Come on, you do have to admit he was pretty much the (somewhat) normal character for that game. Its also probably why he's so...ignored, he has no actual quirk to his life other than the usual daddy issues.
He's just a little too normal, y'know? To the point of "I've pretty much already heard all of this before." Miranda and Jacob were the two people who I had the least interest in through ME2 and ME3, just because they were too... standard issue, I guess? Even Miranda had her own complex background of gene therapy and something interesting other than "I HAD A DAD AND NOW HE'S A BAD GUY BLOO HOO OKAY I'M BETTER." Spicing things up a little with the human characters, though, are Kaidan and Traynor. Traynor's like a human Tali and she's fabulous.
Jacob had the misfortune of being sane and well-adjusted on a ship full of assassin's, vigilantes, genetically engineered krogan, psychotic test subjects, and a zombie.
All I'm saying is that you are quick to label a character as uninteresting and immediately never speak to them again. When you do that you miss the depths the character has. I agree the gameplay isn't the best, but it's solid in 2 and much better in 3. I'm willing to forgive the gameplay only being average in 2, given the attention they put into the characters.
Perhaps I need to give it another go, although not at the moment. I am not that interested in a new playthrough. I guess the series is not my cup of tea. I expected a more refined gameplay.
Fair enough. ME2 gameplay may be less rough than ME1, but it's a bit more repetitive as a result. It makes you miss being able to lift a geth prime and forget it exists.
It was quite saddened to see Jacob and Legion die, they were one of my favorite characters.
I'd like to know what you're smoking.
I liked him because he was honest and a good follower, nothing about him is special but that's what I liked about him. Also the quest with his dad was quite interesting. I had a sense of comeradeship with him. Although later in the game he got a bit boring because you could not talk much to him about stuff, he was always ready and steady for the last mission. Is it so bad to have a different opinion? :v:

Most bioware games i can think of off of the top of my head had generic male follower one. Carth, Alistar, Kaiden, Atton. To be fair though Atton got pretty damn cool later into the game and Kaiden was replaced by James in ME3. But again James got pretty cool once he got past being Biceps McBighuge.

Just started my new playthrough of ME3. The Genesis 2 comic took about 30 minutes to run through. Made a Vanguard due to loving my Human Vanguard on MP abusing Charge and Nova.

(Well except Bao, he has no character) Also he's just basically an anagram for Ayn Rand.
Just completed Mass Effect 2 again and sorta feel a bit empty inside. I did absolutely everything that was available before doing the Suicide Mission, so I just sorta end the game with a fizzle. A fizzle of hearing the crew's reaction, yes, but a fizzle. Huh.

You just do a little less worse each time.
I loved Alistair, that wisecracking mother fucker.
He did begin as generic male companion though. Hmm, there seems to be a pattern. They all got cooler as the game went on. Except for Jacob.
There's a term for this: "character development"
Everyone had character development. For a few it was slow, for Jacob it was missing.

Unsure if this is the correct place to ask this, but is Knights of the Old Republic anything like Mass Effect? I played KOTOR 2 a while back, but I don't really remember it.
KOTOR 1 is a must in my opinion, there a good mod to play it with called brotherhood of shadow: solomon's revenge. for KOTOR2 the restored content mod and m4-78 If im correct flesh out the game immensely and fixes a lot of the missing plot holes. there some other mods that i use to enhance and tweak the experience but if you want to know what i used, just pm me.
Definitely play it if you can. It's an amazing experience.
So is there any way to get the N7 Hoodie in ME3 other than getting the Collector's Edition? I want my Shepard to look like a college frat boy when he's not on duty.

Rather like the Javik dlc, then.
