Mass Effect Megathread: I should *go*. *I* should go. I *should* go.

Let's just say there's a difference between putting the characters in a more relaxed setting and pandering to the BSN.

Fanservice: The DLC
And I was completely contempt with that. The only regret I had was inviting Tali up, because that scene was horrific.
Jeez must be bad.
I loved the rest of the DLC, but I don't think I'm even gonna try that now.

It's pretty amusing. It's not often I feel secondhand embarrassment for a videogame character but...well yeah. Cute as it was trying to be, I think they could have left the scene on the cutting room floor.
It was pretty cute imo. But i couldn't help but cringe a little.

I think what made it difficult to watch was just how over the top they went with it. If it was just a quiet little scene, almost a lullaby, it probably would have worked just fine. Instead, they went full Disney.

It would of been better if shepard was cringing or have some sort of witty comment after the disney princess scene

Is this when she's the love interest? I did the scene with her as a regular squad mate and it didn't seem bad. Then again, I don't remember all that much from it.

I think they were trying to be cringe-worthy with that one. Her [sp]singing[/sp] is just horrendous.
This is why you invite Wrex up.
Not sure if this has been posted yet, but it seems Mac might be the lead writer again for the next ME title.

goddess help us all
Well, he played a big part in 2. They just need somebody to balance out his shitty ideas and what he thinks is ~cool~ so we don't get another Kai Leng/ME3 ending combo.
Kai Leng was okay in the books because he was like the secondhand replacement for Shepard that could never live up to the same standards, but still tried. Hell, Captain Anderson crippled the guy, that says a lot about both of them right there and nothing it says about Leng is good. Why they made him into such a Mary Sue is beyond me.

He was good in one of the books.
Then he stole cereal to be edgy.
Also, that just made me realize that it's been over a year since that whole Deception debacle and a second edition of that book was never actually released.
What exactly was the Deception debacle?
What exactly was the Deception debacle?
The book, Deception, was basically a terrible piece of scripture. Laden with errors, and the infamous cereal thief scene.
Ever hear of the Star Wars Holiday Special? This is Mass Effect's version. At least to me.
What. The. Fuck.
I know I took every single paragon option with him in ME3.
Why the fuck didn't I get the option to make Timmy [sp]off himself.[/sp]
I'm really mad now, because after my first runthrough, I kept reassuring myself, "It'll all be okay, I can finally flip TIM his final bird."

[sp]You have to do the investigate, then the blue option in all of his convos and have enough paragon points at the end.[/sp]

I did that, but what is "enough paragon points?"
I had every bar paragon except for about a half a bar of renegade.

You might of missed one of the paragon options in all the parts you attempt to charm/intimidate him throughout the main missions. In my first play through I didn't investigate on mars and had to play the entire game over just to get him to off himself.

If they can coax Karpyshyn back and deliver a story with ME2's quality, I'd be pleased as punch. Hell, I'd take another ME3 story if they just cut out most of the bullshit in it.
Sometimes I wonder if the main reason a lot of people like Tali is because Bioware didn't get the chance to fuck up her facial animations like they did the rest of the characters. Who could forget the "Oh I'm interested." line?

That might be part of it (no uncanny valley to fall into is nice), but from what I've seen the vast majority of people who like Tali do so because of her personality, at least in ME2 and ME3.
SIGH
I know facebook is the breeding ground for idiots, but holy hell the comments on Mac returning and people defending the ending make me want to kill children.
That, and I don't think Bioware cares or realizes that making the next ME game come after 3 means they have to pick one of the colors to be cannon.

SIGH

Well nice knowing you Mass Effect, Guess I'll go play Witcher games now
What are the chances they somehow try to pull the greatest bullshit retcon ever, and just say Shepard survived or had yet another body built from rEAper wreckage?
Knowing Mac's writing skills with Mass Effect, its seeming alarmingly more likely.
Ah, EA, how you ruin the best of things with you're very presence.
I'm betting it'll be a new protagonist, but halfway through there'll be the "HUGE" twist that Shepard survived and is in hiding and he/she will become a squadmate who promptly overshadows the main character.
And it will be terrible.
Bioware made it quite clear that Shepard will not be appearing in any future installment. In fact, I'd be very annoyed if that happened since I made my peace a long time ago
Also, I think the fact that Mass Effect 3 seemed to be rushed was a greater factor in it's execution then anything Mac Walters did. Give him a break
