i can't believe only 1 or 2 people have so far mentioned Just Cause 2. Great game, as are X3:TC, all the R* games and RF:G.

Red dead redemption is as large if even bigger with more variation in enviroment and alot more to do.

Better interface, more ships+weapons, more sectors, competetive pirate arsenals, better mission system, easier to get into - fixes or works around problems in Reunion and fixes gaping holes in the interface

Glitchy game, shit story, and annoying wrecking physics. You slam into a wall at 100 mph, not even a dent.
The other Elder Scrolls games, Saints Row 2, Crackdown 2, and Gothic 3 are all good.
Destroy All Humans 1 + 2. Not the third though, or the one on Wii though.
I would say Spore, Fallout 3, Jak 3 if you have a PS2.

Also, Terran Conflict if you can run it, if you can't then Reunion

Although you already mentioned it, Fallout 3 is probably my favorite sandbox game. Buy the PC version if you haven't already and install some mods from FalloutNexus. Endless hours of fun, and with the right combination of mods, very long lasting as well.
