So somebody give me 1 good reason why you would ever want to be a moderator ?

I did that.

It's a good job mate, challenging work, all indoors, you'll never go hungry because at the end of the day so long as there are 2 people left on the earth someone is gonna want someone banned
Or because they want to take responsibility in the forum and enforce the rules, removing all trolls and flamers. That and massive ego trips

aka Makes you E-Penis bigger ?

Pretty much but I really just want to get rid of trolls I'm sick of seeing ban worthy posts yet I can't do anything about other then report and hope for the best
I would say that a healthy ego probably helps, since you will get a lot of shit flung at you. But anyone on a "massive ego trip" is unlikely to last very long as a Facepunch moderator.

Can't you just ignore them. They are just letters on a screen

I'm the kinda person that simply cannot ignore anything. I have to see everything or I'm not satisfied.

I'm not really sure if it'd count but saying you were a moderator on a 10,000+ active member forum might count for something on a CV, then again probably not as I doubt most people know what a forum is.
That said it's too much hassle for me to bother at the moment.

With that said, is it just me or do the moderators get kicked off the team after a while to keep things fresh or is it that they leave on their own? I mean, when you become a mod, are you a mod for lets say a year maximum or can you stay for as long as you wish and/or until you stop being useful?

I think this is one of the key factors in being a good moderator, you need to be able to keep your cool at all times but at the same time be strict in enforcing the community jurisdiction.
I put one but I didn't it's dumb and I get ban too much in my history

Until they have a reason to remove you.

Provide yourself to be a helpful asset to a community you've been a member of for a while maybe?
That is what I've basically done.
I would apply, but I really can't really cope with the responsibilities.

Then again you don't really need an ego for that, if you just ignore what's thrown at you entirely, you'd be fine.

I meant ego in the sense of good self esteem, a sense of self worth. In my opinion people who don't have that may find it quite hard to ignore abuse.

Ah, that makes a little more sense. Thanks for clearing that up. I do agree it would be easier in that case.
I applied for moderator, but I don't think I have posted enough to even be considered.

Can't be much truer than that.

rawrkat was an 08'er with a couple hundred posts and she was mod.

she was a mod's GF.

Lithifold's, I believe.
I would apply but I think applications are bullshit and since you can make up the situation. It would be better to choose someone by looking at their posts.

I'd also prefer a moderator without a short temper.
I think I'm going to apply later this afternoon.
Sorry everybody, but I'm going to become the new mod.

I'm pretty sure they'll do at least a cursory glance over your posts when they're considering you.
Apparently i don't know enough about the inernet becouse you're a fat faggot and can't make the website work for IE.

Something tells me that mentioning you were a moderator for X forum that had Y users isn't going to be make-or-break on a job application.
Also woo, I'm no longer worried about the other forum I was a moderator of being too small, having looked at some of the other posts related to the issue.
Anyways, good luck to all the other applicants! It'll be interesting to see what comes of this.
