I have read that 60% of all people that play games are female. That includes farmville and flashgames. So they are not actually gamers, but they do play games.
In Australia, the ratio is like 100:1 in terms of guys and girls when playing games.
over decade ago i was always amazed to discover that great sniper is girl :)

What a coincidence I come accross this thread. I bought L4D2 last week and there's a girl on it, she talks on the mic and couple days ago some kid (sounded around 13 or 14yrs old) claimed he was 26yrs old and acted like a dickhead to her ... probably just trying to get her attention. He was trying a bad attempt at sounding confident by making sex jokes and what not, yelling at her etc... She was pretty pissed. Pretty funny lol.

Girl gamers, aka grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl gamers <3, are the girls who play games in order to be attention whores. They're the type of people who spam on servers, and are constantly surrounded by medics.
Most girls who play games are gamer girls, but there are still girl gamers out there.

I believe it's the other way around.
I barely play Multiplayer, but I've got at least ONE woman on my Steam Friends List (she's an admin in another forum I go to, and pretty well respected there) and apparently someone here on FP added me and according to the comments on her profile she is a girl (whoever jennyaero or jenny is, that's who I'm speaking of. Never spoke to her despite accepting the friend request.), but that's the extent of my girl-gamer knowledge.
Was playing L4D2 the other day, and this person named Kat was playing.
Adds me the next day (because yesterday was gaming cafe account) and I learn she's a girl. I didn't make the connection between Kat and girl.

The think all the silly sexism and tension that people talk about only exists because the concept of girls playing games is abstract to them. Once a balance is established, it will be normally and nobody will make a deal of it. This is why you find the two major types of girls, the ones that are proud that they are female and try to take an advantage with this attribute over socially inadequate males and girls that just happen to play games because it is fun.

That honestly depends on the personality. Most say playing Medic is great because you don't need to fight that much (Because their aim sucks.) I play Demoknight most because chopping heads is just awesome. I also know one who's a Sniper main and Spy secondary. It all boils down to the personality. One thing I've noted tho is that guys tend to switch classes way more easily. Don't know if this is noteworthy or not.
And even though I'm not doing any huge scoring people still throw kitchen jokes. Like, what's the point?
