Duke Nukem 3d You can't beat this shit for fantastic oldstyle shooters.
Alot of good games being posted.
Everyone grew up with CS.
I didn't really get into gaming until I played GoldenEye for the N64.
Doom, Fallout, and Duke Nukem 3D
I played Doom and Duke Nukem when I was 5 with my mom and dad. But the first pc game I played alone was Battlefield 1942. Also Pokemon of course. [editline]03:45PM[/editline] Let's not forget Crash Bandicoot.

Jetforce: Gemini and Rayman. [editline]11:59AM[/editline] Also that Hot Wheels game was fucking amazing.
Previous poster put up videos for Duke3D, Doom, and Blood. Loved all three, but Blood seriously is the best of them... my god, what a well made environment, and the weapons were pretty unique and interesting. The music was great too. But my true favourite game... Starsiege: Tribes. I'm not too sure how to capture the essence of the gameplay because it was so unique. I mean, yes, it's an FPS, but giving everyone jetpacks really does change everything. Tribes did so much for team gaming it is unbelievable. It had a built in command interface where you could give out orders, see your whole team on the map, and know what everyone was up to... at the press of a button. It had deployable turrets and other equipment, and in-game inventory stations where you could swap into one of three armor types (light/medium/heavy) and choose your weapons. Long story short, every character is equipped with a recharging jetpack, and all weapons have a certain strategy to their usage, making each weapon quite unique. Those skilled in one weapon could often use that weapon to cross some boundaries, but of course it's never perfect. With everyone making jetpack-assisted hops while firing explosive disks (pretty much rockets, just blue and disk shaped lol) as people touch down in an effort to catch them in the splash, while grenades, plasma, and chainguns rip everything to shit... the game got pretty crazy. One of the most interesting parts of Tribes is that someone found out you could jump down hills, pick up crazy momentum, and launch yourself to crazy speeds and heights. People refer to it as "Skiing". This was obviously a bug sort of like bunny hopping. Unlike bunny hopping, the developers embraced it and made it a part of the game. It is quite easy to learn, but difficult to master, as one as to time things carefully to land in another valley between two hills to launch yourself again. The method is simple: run down a mountain while tapping your jump button, jetpack up the side of the opposing slope. Literally that easy. Here are some montage videos... these guys make it look easy. In reality, shooting someone in the air with the disk launcher was one of the hardest things to do. My longest air disk was 315 metres, second is 303 metres. I won't lie, I wasn't 100% sure I was going to the get the 315 metre shot.... but I did play the game for 7 years lol. I learned it inside-out. Still, these guys are my better... though not by much :v: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_tYMRyaj8s&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aV07MgjpoLE&feature=channel
Everyone grew up with CS.
I always thought CS sucked personally. I preferred Day of Defeat, Natural Selection, and Team Fortress Classic (as far as HL mods go).
I have a shitload of old demo discs for the Playstation 1, all of them had around 15 demos on them. I tried quite the amount of games as a kid.
All the N64 games. Mainly Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Paper Mario & Mario 64. Those were my favourite games and I must've spent every moment I wasn't sleeping playing them. Crash Bandicoot, too.
Pokemon red
I grew up with this along with Day of Defeat. Damn I need to reinstall DoD for many memories. [editline]12:08PM[/editline] I forgot to say, my dad beat this then gave it to me, that's why I got hooked. [editline]12:09PM[/editline] And my mom played with him... DAMMIT WHY DO THEY ONLY PLAY MMOs NOW? D:
Baldur's Gate Warcraft Series Pokemon Diablo Just about sums it up. My grandparents played Half-life and they though it wasn't a game that I should play so I tried to steal it and they caught me. :eng99:
