They're aiming for a little too much realism. They can't expect to keep a large player base with such ridiculous timespans. Sure it's much faster than what we'd expect in reality, but still that's too much. A couple of weeks, maybe even a month, but ten years? Jesus christ.
I don't think they mean it on purpose. It's a ambitious project, so they can't really make EVERYTHING till space age in a span of couple weeks or months. Even in 1-2 years, when the game could be in alpha or beta, I don't think it would allow you space age either. There's just too much shit to do. I wouldn't mind this sort of game to be developed though. I really liked haven & hearth, and it's player run world. It completely changes everything and makes the game much more dynamic, given its mechanics work properly. Anyone liking EVE or HnH will surely understand me.
Bump. Was bored and somehow this came into my mind so i googled it and holy shit there is an actual ingame picture: That's not all! There is actually a video too! game of the decade 11/10 You can apply to the alpha somewhere i don't know or care where(i think you have to pay) but if someone does get access to it let us know.
He's way over estimated how long it would take him to make something like this.
He's said that there will be pre-alpha tests in the next few weeks. I faked some referrals so I'll be able to post about how ~amazingly awesome~ this game actually is.
Oh man, all of this reeks of vaporware. Especially the "concept art" which just seems to be photoshopped screenshots from other games like diablo 2, age of empires and some others. Why anyone would actually invest money in this game at this stage is beyond me.
Alright, time to test this out. Hey, what's this on the front page?
Please keep in mind that this is a technical test of the Universe Project frameworks and the actual gameplay implementation has been kept to an absolute minimum for this first testing phase.
Oh, of course. It's not because you don't have any real gameplay to show. Moving on: [t]http://www.webpagescreenshot.info/i3/5189a30867bce1-14967557[/t] Well, the movement is slick, I'll give it that. The webpage runs on Java, though the game itself is HTML5, running on the guy's MyRPG framework. The gameplay is...sub par (whoa, really?). So far, the guy has made an asteroids clone where the bullets don't hit the asteroids and the asteroids don't hit you. If you go to another tab or resize the window, the game crashes. There's not much else to talk about. The options menu is out of place and needlessly flashy. None of the buttons but "Ping Server" and "Fullscreen" work: [t]http://i.imgur.com/jWO1veu.png[/t] all our hopes and dreams that we never had are crushed
Enable Lag? i dont.. wait.. they had a shit load of money and they use it all in a super mega simple 2D game to " simulate " an universe? i have no words
