I'm guessing its something in the lines of:
Light = Fast/weak armor/weak damage
Medium = average speed/average armor/average damage
Heavy = Slow/strong armor/high damage
Tankdestroyer = Average speed, weak armor/high damage
Every team needs light armor though, they are uber spotters that can spot tanks from very far so that the heavy armor/artillery can engage.
