Vlads is a support item anyways, isn't it? Not something carries should build themselves.

The only reason carries build it is to get it sooner since it provides no survivability on a support, but giving your carry an entire extra item slot is a pretty fucking big deal, especially if you go super late

Pretty sure I see more carries or semi-carries building vlad's than support heroes. but the damage bonus works for ranged heros right? so think about shit like vengeful spirit, building tranquil boots at start, then later on but semi quickly disassembling them into vlad's and phase boots (assuming no one built it) and probably have meka/forcestaff for being a support, or both if the match is going decently enough. And wards/TP's, not sure if anymore room for Magic Wand.

I would say that building vlads is better on supports then carries, even if the support is ranged. Because the carry can spend those 2k gold onto a big item/his core.

Unless you are a melee support and other supports are getting Mek/drum/Pipe, then it can be useful so you can push easier, although depending on the hero other items might be much better.

Especially if you already max your passive asap you'll be hovering on almost 20 hp/sec @ 13 minutes.

I remember when around when I first tried Dota 2 (Even though I had played DoTA many years ago, I had forgotten) and I thought it would idea to make Divine Rapier my first item. Also, I didn't know how to craft so I didn't even get Demon Edge or Sacred Relic first. Also, I was Crystal Maiden. I got it anyway and we won but I was just trying to farm or something. I was shortly later kicked from the team.

I tried some "unique item builds" on Troll Warlord First of all, I didn't get neither Ring of Aquila nor Helm of Domi. I just went Q-blade/Ring of Protection/2xBranches early, bummed for a one set of Tangos from our support because no more gold, then Orb of Venom and Stout shield from side-shop. Then on lane I quickly acquired Tranquils and PMS. Then after a bit of farm I took Vlad's and Phase boots at once (disassembling Tranquils for that), and finally Eye of Skadi for a Unique Attack. :v: (also BKB) Anyway Vlad's on Troll is awesome instead of HotD because you can get yourself some nifty Unique Attack of your own choosing, like Desolator or my latest Eye of Skadi try-out.
