Whenever Valve makes any progress or change, everyone goes "waaaa this totally ruins all their games forever", no matter how minor it is or whether it's something you can TOTALLY IGNORE AND NOT DO. It's like the Counter Strike community - you can't provide them any content without bitching.
Why make games with singleplayer AND multiplayer built into it when you can just sell them separately for more money, like Half-Life Source?
Err HLDM:S is free for all owners of HL:S.
