Those pipe levels...
THOSE PIPE LEVELS...

The music is really bad, in my opinion.
Yeah, I don't know why he didn't get properly looping music. The fade-outs sound like shit.
Oh god at the end of the video it was just a clusterfuck.
Finished the first parts of my world, so I'll describe the levels here:
1: Shipyard
An easy level. You just jump over a few obstacles and break in to the bottom of the Koopacruiser.
2: Wood Deck
A slightly harder yet easy level. You're in the area of the ship where they refine wood to be used for other things. Jump through the mill.
3: Ruby Raid
Probably a tad harder than the last. You're jumping through the area of the ship where the slaves make Ruby items.
4: Bridge
You're finally at the top level of the ship! Bowser isn't at the bridge like you would have expected though...better climb up the levels which are in construction.
5: Geronimo
You're at the very very top of the ship now. Jump down to the desert below.

Badly ripped or do you just hate Mario/SNES music?
The punishment for death in this game is harsh. It crashes most times I die :v:
OK, I'm almost done with the music replacements. I just need help identifying one file. Does anyone know where /SMBX/music/nsmb-world.mp3 is from?
I love it how Mario just sits and slides, and doesn't give a fuck.
The music is really bad, in my opinion.
Yeah Wii music doesn't really go together with 16-bit graphics. Even the N64 stuff is pushing it.
I'm assuming it's the world map theme from New Super Mario Bros?
I'm assuming it's the world map theme from New Super Mario Bros?
Have you listened to it? It's like a big band/orchestrated remix of Mario 3's first world map.

holy shit, i remember that episode of dexter's lab

Thats weird...
How do you make the levels move past one area? Like, I made one section, now how do I make the screen move with me instead of bumping into an invisible wall?

Move the level boundary, don't make new sections.

You're a cookie.
Well, it turns out that nsmb-world.mp3 isn't even registered in the level editor and you'd have to put it in as custom. Ah well. I give you 73 out of 74 music files. The improvements include a much higher bitrate, some mono tracks are replaced with stereo versions, and with much more of them looping as intended (Looking at you, sf-corneria.mp3).

Just drag the zip's music folder to your /SMBX/music/ folder.
Maybe someday I'll rip & replace the sounds as well.
You are a valuable asset to our team and to society. Have a drink and/or beverage.
Thanks man
peach feels so cheap, I just jump and float over half of a level. Her sprite needs the deal-with-it glasses

Same with Toad's double jump.

I recognized it. It's part of the alternate music for the Yoshi's Island stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Very commonly used among the more ambitious people who make Mario fan games. Some of you may have hard of a game called "Mushroom Kingdom Fusion"; that used the same remix in one of their world maps. A good example of why I don't think N64/Gamecube/Wii music fits very well in these games too: MKF became a hideous clusterfuck as a result of it's attempts to mash nearly every Japanese franchise ever onto a Game Maker engine intended for making Mario 3 clones. Shit got so bad that they actually got a page on ED, which even got the approval of one of their IRC mods.
Keeping the sound and visuals consistent is important if you want to be taken seriously. 90% of fanmade Mario games immediately make the mistake of putting isometric GBA character sprites on a sidescrolling SNES plane. The Wii music here is pretty sparse, though, and the visuals are consistently SNES sprites, so it's not too bad on that account.
I think everyone at FP should make a level and we have someone make a world map and string them all together. Fun?

Sounds good.
I played this with a friend today, and I came to one conclusion:
Any campaign you play on will be impossible in 2 player mode without sonicstooslow and other cheats.

Actually, minus a few [sp]hilarious[/sp] fuck-ups, Dai and I were doing just fine on the campaign together. You just gotta' know how to communicate.
Making a cave level with lots of sections. Will be fun.

by hilarious he means "eat me with a yoshi just as I get the fire flower and spit me out underneath a falling goomba"
like, eighty times
If anyone wants it for a world, I'd be happy to modify it so it'll fit. Just need the previous level's map style (Forest, etc.) and the next level's style.

How did you play over the internet?
