Well guys, Turns out it was Nintendo that did it after all.
Last Friday I received a call from Nintendo's lawyers asking me to remove Super Mario Bros. X from the site and delete all SMBX videos from my Youtube account. They also asked me to transfer SuperMarioBrothers.org over to them. I have complied with their first two wishes, but I do not want to lose SuperMarioBrothers.org. It is a good Mario fansite, even without Super Mario Bros. X. They were going to decide on that and get back to me. I was waiting to hear back from them before I made any statement about this, but the rumors needed to be cleared up. I have a lot of respect for Nintendo and never intended to cause any problems for them. I am going to ask that you guys refrain from posting copies of SMBX on the internet, as it goes against Nintendo's wishes and could make things more complicated for me.
Taken from the forums i linked before. Its sad, even more because out of more popular fan games, they took the nicest one.
Why the fuck would they take a FAN MADE GAME.
Fuck you Nintendo, fuck you and your refusals to release EarthBound games worldwide and fuck you for always taking out fangames. I seriously hate Nintendo, greedy motherfuckers who also used to put unnecessary censors all over their games. ( Couldn't the guy just go to court about this? )

I will share SMBX on as many possible sites as possible. This is a great game that paid more than enough respect to Nintendo. It is their IP, but I do believe this is a case where their IP is safe in the hands of strangers.
That? http://www.supermariobrothers.org/super-mario-x.html Seriously, update OP, because I'm sure that's not what you all talk about here.
That? http://www.supermariobrothers.org/super-mario-x.html Seriously, update OP, because I'm sure that's not what you all talk about here.
If only I could rate box harder.
Does it take forever to install or is it just me?

Its just a flash game, the game we talked about was "Super Mario bros X". This is what we're talking about. Also the only decent video I've found. But even this video doesn't show it's greatness. Just scroll up and download from one of the links people have posted and see what's so great about it.
If only I could rate box harder.
If you'd have read carefully, you'd have noticed I wrote "because I'm sure that's not what you all talk about here" Thanks for the video.
He should release the source and say he was hacked to provide plausible deniability.
I wish that online multiplayer would've made it into the game before it was taken down :sigh:

I mean with most developers you know what's going to piss them off, but Nintendo just seems to react to stuff like this completely at random.
Well since everything got removed from his website, anyone know where can i download the addon episodes from? Are they even any good?
Well since everything got removed from his website, anyone know where can i download the addon episodes from? [editline]24th April 2011[/editline] Here's Cliche; http://filesmelt.com/dl/cliche.rar and here's Empire; http://filesmelt.com/dl/The_Great_Empire_by_Knuckles96.rar You may get some of my save files, I'm not sure if they're saved in the world files or not.
The facepunch world never got off the ground :/ Oh well
By the way, if anyone wants to download the full game, just PM me, I'd be happy to keep this alive.

Is this the original one then? Also thanks. If anyone else has the other episodes and could upload/link them, that'd be fantastic. [editline]24th April 2011[/editline] Oh apparently cliche 2 replaced cliche 1 on the main site when it was released. I guess that means you have 2 then assuming you downloaded it recently.
How do you play this online?
Doubt it's copyright infringement. The author kept saying its "Dead forever" and similar shit so i guess he just decided to remove it so no one would bring it back up at all. Without even releasing the source code.
Well that's a shame, it really looks like it has amazing potential. You'd figure with the amount of fan games already out on the internet you'd be safe from something like a possible lawsuit especially since it was free considering he wasn't even profiting from it
Mushroom Kingdom Fusion and Super Mario Fusion still exist, both have a lot of effort put into them, and look more appealing to me anyway.

There's a good reason for why it has/had an ED article. Even the team behind it thinks it's a monster. The original creator actually disowned the project after seeing what it had become and splintered off to make his own, less cluttered version. One of the developers during the "clusterfuck phase" pretty much admits that he helped ruin it and the site's main IRC mod actually endorsed the ED page.

Hopefully SMF is like the old MKF...

And this is off-topic, but Judgespear should have stuck to more SHMUP videos, or even MUGEN videos if you want to go that far back, because other than his game ideas he has really nothing else to interest me.
So the guy who made SMBX is the guy who's making Terraria. I never knew. :V
Anyway I'm glad this thread isn't dead cause it means this wasn't a waste of time:
I see people posting bits and pieces of it, but here's the game and the four episodes: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?4b6m5k73h2ceri2 It's funny. I haven't even played the game yet, but when I heard about it a few weeks ago I downloaded everything and tucked it away. I do that to everything, I'm an internet packrat. It's pretty bad, I have like 50,000+ files that I've downloaded over the years. :smith:
Would you happen to have the Streets of Rage remake that got taken down?

Take all of it. Where can I make the money out to for this?
Would you happen to have the Streets of Rage remake that got taken down?
I've got it, I'll start uploading it for you. Here it is
Is it me, or have the game companies been stingy lately about fan works / remakes? Streets of Rage Remake comes out, SEGA takes it down. Some, other game I forget comes out, it gets taken down. Super Mario X comes out, it gets taken down. It's like they're all planning something or just getting pissy in general about remakes or games that might just surpass their own works (and then detract from sales of future games).
