R.U.S.E. Is a must when it comes out in September, man I can't wait :v:
The original Empire Earth games were great fun. I can't begin to describe how many hours I poured into that game.
Supreme Commander. It's the only true RTS. Don't get 2 though that sucks balls. And FA has to much inside story you need to know from 1 too. Plus the new units wreak havok on the balance.
I dunno man, I loved 2. My biggest complaint about the game would be its downsizing in certain aspects and lame Campaigns. But the new engine that powered it is much better optimized than Supcom 1 and FA.
There's no strategy, there's no story, there's no music, there's no art style. Optimised or not it's not even a tenth the game supcom is.
C&C generals and zero hour, and rise of nations. NO EXCEPTIONS

Stop taking the game so seriously.
Supreme Commander. It's the only true RTS.
Total Annihilation says hello.
Men of War Rise of Nations Company of Heroes You will not be dissapointed.
Ground Control, it's aweosme and has the benefit of being free from here: http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/groundcontrol/
Ground control 2 is also immensely awesome. [editline]03:30PM[/editline] also Spring RTS, has tons of mods and is just overall fantastic. remake of TA [editline]03:32PM[/editline] and almost forgot men of war :v:
Total Annihilation says hello.
Of course, but I never played that.
Thank you for all the suggestions :-). I bought Total Annihilation, C&C 3 Tiberium wars, Rise of nations and pre-ordered/payed for R.U.S.E so thank you for the suggestions :-)
Company of Heroes. AI in this game has some issues, like being able to "cheat" (get resources faster etc) and spamming units to make up for it's lack of intelligence. Playing online with friends against AI is really fun though. Dawn of War 1 & 2. the first and second are very different but very fun.
Company of Heroes is awesome, also i got it with my grapichs card :D World in Conflict is badass aswell.
The sims
I just recently got into Warzone2100. You research captured enemy technology that came from before the apocalypse and then design new vehicles with it. It's really awesome and the campaign is really cool too. Also, it's for the wonderful price of free.
All Command & Conquer games, except the last one, it was an FPS. Sins of a Solar Empire, though that has 4x elements. Also Universe at War: Earth Assault is a nice game. There's also Generals and it's expansion Zero Hour. They're decent RTS' too.
Starcraft and starcraft 2 = the only ones with lasting appeal
Starcraft and starcraft 2 = the only ones with lasting appeal
You mean rush/spam balanced [editline]05:22PM[/editline]
Thank you for all the suggestions :-). HEY I SAW THAT EDIT; you said the only balanced ones at first.
You mean rush/spam balanced
Yes, pretty much
HEY I SAW THAT EDIT; you said the only balanced ones at first.
I edited it because I didn't want to defend my opinion to fanboys of some other RTS :v:
i also got world in conflict..... SWEET!
Fuck yeah.
Is there anyway to buy Rise of Nations online? I didn't see it in the Steam store.
Is there anyway to buy Rise of Nations online? I didn't see it in the Steam store.
I prepaid in a store but I don't think steam have that option yet but they probably will closer to the date!
If you want 'Use What you're given wisely' and Real tactics being needed to survive, then you'll want Combat Mission Shock Force... You don't build your units, you got what you got, and because of that it relies heavily on actual strategy and precaution other than Hotkey memory and unit spamming Actual ambushing, working suppression, cover system, Line of Sight means if you don't see the enemy, you don't see the enemy, and vise versa... But that doesn't mean you can't tell your Bradley to put some 30mm into a building or a field to suppress or kill while you move your troops The only downside is god awful camera controls Another one I like is Close Combat Invasion Normandy, or Sudden Strike II

Even better Combat Mission Normandy is coming out next year or in 2012.

I can't capture oil rigs or whatever so I can't build any more units and then I get pulverized.
Ground control 2 is also immensely awesome.
Number 1 was much better IMO cause with the very limited, reinforcements (read: none if you deployed all the units you could select) it really makes you stop and think more.
I'm depressed that you didn't buy Age of mythology (or any of the Age of Empires series). It's a really high-quality game.
