ok so to find clay do I just walk along sand and find it at random places or do I have to dig it?

I've been mining right around lava and bedrock for the past 2 (real life) days, and I haven't found one diamond, just a ton of redstone.

I would really like to find redstone, havent EVER found it, and is starting to think it is a hoax.. Can it be found in caves with surface access?? Or do i have to stripmine to find it?

Redstone is located really deep, where diamonds are. Usually its hidden by dirt or even a single layer of stone, but you can find it easily if you go deep enough.

I just learned something. Slimes split when you reload a save. They still damage you, but you can hit them.

I just bought the game today, and I must say I'm really enjoying it. Only thing I hate is mining iron ore - I don't know where to find any, and I haven't come across any at all.
