That's redundant for very obvious reasons. Seriously, people can give you things. There will always be 1 or 2 generous people who are willing to help you out, so what you are saying still doesn't give anyone a reason to steal.
Not to mention, not everyone has luck in finding redstone. If they can't find any, what's going to happen? "Tough shit, you should've found redstone sooner!" and all those items he/she worked hard for is gone.

SA is probably the most mature/intelligent community on the internet. When SMP comes out and FP is bickering about what city design to use and who gets to make the sewers, SA will literally be walking on streets of gold.

It's much easier to remove something someone has spent hours or days building than it is to rebuild or even just repair it. Destroying blocks is easy, and you won't even necessarily get stopped because the other player could be offline.
I don't find it much fun to log on and find all my stuff stolen and my base completely removed.

I just went and got into SMP on my first try, but the random chunks issue fucked me because the chunk under the spawn didn't load.
Why anyone would pay $10 for an account on a forum is beyond me.
