Speaking of lilcheeselad's traps idea, underground ruins should be rigged with traps. Like falling rock traps, traps that seal a room and fill it with water/lava or traps that shoot arrows out of the floor/walls/ceiling

It wouldn't be in caves, it would be in ruins. I see them as an extension as the cube-dungeons that we have.

I haven't tried it yet, but I always thought that a 3x3 or so space of water, all flowing towards the middle (might be hard to accomplish) would be the ultimate dock.
