Is it just me or are the friendly animals less picky about how light it needs to be? I've got torches spread around my house to fend baddies off and it seems like animals keep spawning near them at night.

I think I see why you have so much trouble killing them. You're using a diamond pick axe and not a diamond sword! :buddy:

Keep looking. They need to be on the grass and near a water source. Once you find them, you can plant them in a farm and as long as they are next to water will continue to grow upwards. Take the tops off, replant it, and expand.
