How does everyone mostly find diamond do you just go far exploring in caves or do you dig your own?

I made a very simple hue change to the bricks as I didn't get why they were red even though the soil stuff was blueish, so I made them a blueish color instead of red. I also changed the brick in the items image. Unbaked clay isn't always tan you know, it can be white with a very subtle blue tint.

Regarding gameplay, it works well but I have no clue what to do. I was lost the entire time, I have a 9 minute video of me saying "where am I?" "where are you?". I've never played survival for more than 5 mins lmao, I don't even know how to craft.
