So I purchased it yesterday, and when I was in bed trying to sleep all I could see were blocks and hear the mooing of those damn cows... does this stage of addiction pass quickly?
It's all I'm bloody thinking off... but it's so amazing...
EDIT: And I take it from the growth of this thread that, no, the addiction does not pass.
If you're still wondering about the dipshits that say Minecrafters are autistic, it started on /v/ and that's all you need to know.
no, the addiction does not pass.
this is just the first stage, eventully you will see pigs on your front lawn and you will check for creepers before you go to bed each night.
stage 2: you will refuse to cook anything without laying it out on a 3x3 grid first and you will rush home in time to watch the sun go down, staying up all night egerly waiting for the sun to rise again.
stage 3: your brain will start to change shape into a block and you will develop stage 3 mineitis. this may cause: perceptions that you are infact in a randomly generated world, bashing people to death in the hope they will drop some feathers or arrows, and in the very odd case ripping up cement from the foot path and placing somewhere else.
City Guard. Do it.
I'm having so much fun with alpha. Unfortunately you really have to play the game to appreciate how fucking annoying these cows are. I thought someone said notch made the injury sounds better?
Anyway, is it possible to convert cobblestone back into smooth stone?

The kit is the chest and sign next to it. The rest of the image is my main base. It's not pretty but it gets the job done.

It isn't safe though, say you want to build during the night, you open up the crafting block and you are building. You don't hear the creeper come up to you, you notice him, sssSSSsss, boom.
Look what I found:

In the little hole at the bottom there is a cave which actually goes somewhere. I'm setting up base there. It's right next to my spawn!
Is dungeons findable in peaceful
So, I tried to run /game/ on this ancient ass computer. The results were, uh...
[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/craft.PNG[/img_thumb]
As you can see from JUST the title screen, some of the graphics are messed up and you can see the taskbar, but it got a lot weirder ingame. Unfortunately it all happened so fast before it crashed that I couldn't get a good screen of it, but I'll reopen it and try again.
edit
Well, here's what greeted me the second time I opened the game.
[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/craft2.bmp[/img_thumb]
None of the options are clickable if you're wondering. Also, various items on my desktop messed up too until I closed the exe again. Stupid integrated graphics.

Yeah.
Could someone host a Infiniminer server? :3:
Looks like your graphics card heats up Doomish.
MORE BROKEN GRAPHICS CARD PICS!

ALRIGHT, so I finally got the game going, and this is what it looks like if nothing is pressed and I'm standing still. Note the lack of a hand, black fog, and clipping sheep.
...But when I move...

I'm on a 2002-era HP laptop with integrated graphics from the same time period. Minecraft runs like shit even in Creative on this thing. It's fun wandering around taking snapshots of shit being broken though :v:

Made me chuckle.
You're using IE?
I only use it every other weekend for a few days so I don't really ever install anything on it. I use Firefox, it's just that I still have the IE icon on my desktop.
You don't have a (better than just displaying the desktop) graphics card me thinks. That is what happened on my old laptop without a Graphics card.
Oh dear lord.

They just..
Let's just say never go deep underground again.
