Press I to bring up the crafting menu. The 2x2 grid is what you use to craft shit. I'd start out by gathering some wood from trees. When you have about 12 or more pieces of wood, open up your crafting menu again, click and drag the wood into any one of the slots and you'll see that at the right of the crafting grid there is wooden boxes. You get 4 wooden boxes per block of wood. Collect all of the wood and place it into your inventory.

hold your LMB on a tree, get the tree blocks, press I, put the tree blocks into the 2x2 grid, take the normal looking plank blocks, stack 2 of them up, take the sticks, take the rest of the wood blocks and fill up the grid with them, take the crafting block, open up the 3x3 grid, stack 2 stick blocks in the middle, take 3 normal wood blocks and make them fill the entire top 3 grid-spaces, mine some stone, make another stone pickaxe (repeat what I said before but replace normal wood with stone), build a house and stay safe.

Who cares if a player slot is wasted, multiplayer will be released for everyone in a week or two which really isn't all that much of a wait.

Add [IMG]http://filesmelt.com/dl/Ambient_occlusion1-1.png[/IMG] on top of it as a Multiply layer in Photoshop or GIMP for shading (or ambient occlusion)
And make the colors less bright if you want, it should make it look a bit better.

I started with three, and with every harvest, it multiplies by about 2.5 (I think)
So now I'm expecting about 120 or so.

Slime balls cannot be thrown or crafted.
They are completely useless at the moment.
I'm going camping in a place where you have no idea about the outside world until you go back to civilization.
I hope blobs are fixed by then, or some interesting features are added.

Yeah, the whole "spawns on peaceful" thing is annoying as hell, but fun as hell too.
