What if i would upload a "cracked version of alpha" to a forum or a site filled with viruses! those evil rickroll worms and satan trojans!
[editline]05:52AM[/editline]
Even the version i found has been downloaded 2147 times. 2147 x 12$ = 25764$
Damn thats a lot of money!

Or you could just enjoy playing minecraft and take pride in the fact that you bought it.
Notch said that he isn't going to worry too much about copy protection, as it would be at the expense of developing for the people that paid for it. Tons of people have purchased and love the game, even if a few accounts are shared.

You would probably be permabanned from the forum before anyone downloaded it because of all the virus protection out there these days. There's not much anyone can really do about pirating, it happens to every game at some point or another.
I hope that real life piracy would be like piracy on southpark.

Many people that download Minecraft also buy it at a later date.
Why were you searching for a pirated version of minecraft anyway, TTauski?
Don't worry, when I had a downloaded version of Minecraft infdev wouldn't work because Notch always signed the java certificate differently, so we could only play indev which is shitty. Pretty efficient way to stop piracy for Notch.

Like i did. i downloaded the indev version one moment because i knew i would buy it but my Visa was locked for the time being.

It was on the frontpage of the Warez-bb´s games section.

changing the certificate is a good way to DELAY the pirating of a game but it is inevitable.
why are so many people admitting to pirating minecraft now what the hell is wrong with you people
[editline]12:59AM[/editline]
it costs 15 dollars, that isn't even that much, it's like an hour and a half of work at a job, why can't people just buy it
Well i downloaded it in the "legal piracy" intention. my visa was locked for a few weeks and i downloaded it as a "Trial" because there is no demo of the full version.
Edit: but im happy that i bought it even if it wont work on my computer for the time being.

There is absolutely no such thing as legal piracy. If Notch didn't allow you to play Indev without paying, you pirated it, it's illegal, end of story.

what is shady about minecraft
If your parents don't buy you Minecraft because they think it's shady tell them you'll mow lawns or something to pay them back if something goes wrong.

But anyhoo, im going to sleep now because ive been awake for 26 hours (again). ill see you tomorrow and doomish... no hard feelings? ok?
Minecraft topic please.
It is minecraft topic! we are talking about minecraft piracy.
Piracy's only claim to legality is the fact that you are entitled to re-download something if you own a copy of it in the first place and can prove it. So, essentially, if I own a CD and it gets flung out the car window and sawblade-frisbees into a pack of nuns, I can just drive home and replace my legal copy without having to re-purchase it or stop to face the legal consequences of wedging a CD into an old lady's nosebridge.
you see these notices on sites all the time. They "Can't be held responsible if their users perform the action illegally, the service is legal on those terms" blah blah blah.
TL;DR Pirates get away with it on excuse of "my friend has a backup", but it's still bannable here so shut up
Secret Friday update coming soon. I wonder what'll be in it.
Minecraft topic please.
Rolling stone.
...shoulda predicted auto-merge break in this thread.

I'm not one to hold a grudge if you aren't.
All I know is that I want to start TALKIN BOUT MINECRAFT TALKIN BOUT MINECRAFT TALKIN BOUT MINECRAFT TALKIN BOUT
MINECRAFT. So, what's everyone think the Seecret Friday Update oooOOOooo is going to be?
You said it best. i know that it was illegal but i still bought it even though there was a pirate version.
[editline]06:11AM[/editline]
Soo friday update? Cookies and monsters! locomotives, airplanes, jackhammers, excavators and SMP.

that's a really common misconception, but you are not entitled to any sort of second copy or license, physical or digital unless expressly stated by the manufacturer, and it would still be illegal to torrent in that case because of the P2P aspect of it.
but please don't turn this into a piracy thread.
Piracy is wrong, mkay? you should never download any games cause its illegal, mkay? but nao is minecraft time! no moar piracy talkery!
I know it applies to ROMS of old games, at least. If that isn't the case and they were just covering a frail base with the claim, whatever.
NO PIRACY HERE ANYWAYS FOOLS.
Since Notch said it was going to be "fun" It would be biomes or new objects.
Big would be SMP but fun would be something else.
Oh, and it's safe to say I haven't died yet in the storm here. I'm sure the people on my stream were a bit worried when I emergency-shut-down.
Still some heavy rumbling from the wind and thunder overhead :tinfoil:
Stop talking about piracy.
but nao is minecraft time! no moar piracy talkery!
let's no moar talkery like this either
Nyah! i found a neat cave in minecraft. it was almost completely circle for like 17 blocks horizontally! i think ill build a base there. maybe!
I hope that the Secret Update will have something to do with the now pretty much useless wool. Maybe a spinning wheel to turn it into string. Or maybe a hot air balloon or a hang glider. Or maybe blue flowers and the ability to make dyes out of the flowers.
Fingers crossed for the ability to fly.
snip
Was Notch talking about Minecart engines before? I hope they're added in today. Minecarts generally seem only useful for rollercoasters right now.
