Someone named Vergeh over from SA just released a program called the Minecraft Save Manager. I haven't tried it out, but it looks pretty awesome. It automatically backs up and stores save files and uploads them to cloud sites so you can access your saves from other computers. You can read his description and download it from the Minecraft forums thread.
No, but that takes even longer than just breaking it and wastes wood D:
Do you know the quick way to remove sand/gravel?
I used it for my towers and it worked pretty well in the end for me.

Wood's is pretty much infinite as long as you have enough trees, just chop down and replant.

You could dig a pit below your building that is a vertical mirror image of your building, and then build the first layer of your building with dirt and then sand or gravel above that. All you would need to do would be to remove the dirt layer.
Oh wait, never mind, that would take longer than building the same thing out of whatever material that's below the building.

Yeah. The quick way is this:
* Sand
# Layer of dirt
| Torch
_ Whatever block
Dig out the dirt block and all the sand will fall onto the torch, but because the torch is there it will just turn into cubes. EXTREMELY efficient way of removing large amounts of sand/gravel.
Hmm has anyone got a invite code to play the Minecraft Multiplayer?
if so what is it like.
From what I've heard, no Facepunchers got invited to SMP beta test. Also from what I heard, it's buggy and still needs a lot of improvements.
Also, Notch apparently invited CitricSquid, a guy who admitted to have barely even played Minecraft for more than a few hours. He was invited because he has something to do with the MC forums, the founder of it or something.
Excellent choice on Notch's part.

God, I wish I could play SMP beta but I don't think I've actually done anything to deserve it. :v:
Fucking Rastadogg making awesome stuff in my server :argh:
I made a Deathstar that I was going to copy into Citybuild.
But I couldn't because the copy limit is 10,000 blocks.
I would need to copy it in 10 different sections.... :saddowns:
Oh and server is still up:

Just made a bunch of progress on a sweet railroad project. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
Any servers up?
wait, if there's no monsters in the first version of smp, what the fuck is the point? its basically multiplayer creative. i'm guessing its just gonna be a public alpha test right? to test its functionality?

I am not going to play minecraft until the next friday update comes out or multiplayer comes out simply because all my worlds are fucked over or stupid. And I cannot be bothered to start another.
World 1 - Out of date and could not find anything useful.
World 2 - I used INVedit on it and got bored.
World 3 - All was well, until I got killed by a skeleton and accidentally blew my own house up.
World 4 - Basically World 3 again.
World 5 - You know that pic of my first diamond? Well it was in this world and I was killed shortly thereafter by lava.

You can stop that by quickly pausing and changing the difficulty to peaceful. Cheating, maybe, but it saves frustration.
FUCK!
I had 20 bars of iron, fell into a deep hole only to be attacked by skeletons and die.
I also had on full iron armor.
And 2 iron swords and pickaxes.

Hey guys im looking for an opinion. Right now I have a shit ton of sand so I am wondering If you guys think I should make a 100x100 sand pyramid using torches to support the sand or a huge glass pyramid again 100x100. The glass would take signifigantly longer but whatever. Opinions asap would be nice.
Sand, then place something to support the sand and dig a tomb under it.

Torches do not work as support anymore, unfortunately.
Torches do not work as support anymore, unfortunately.
Last I checked they do, but you have to place the sand directly above the torch, can't let it fall onto the torch or anything of the likes.
