A mate of mine who used to be a console only player, then I told him about mods and such, he has slowly been moving over. Sent him the minecraft demo link this morning and he has been online on steam all day, he told me a few minutes ago he bought it and has been playing since this morning :v:
A friend, who really wasn't into stuff like minecraft, but my stories of the game kinda convinced him to get it.
I talked my friend into buying it. From there, we talked a few others into it. It spread until we had 15 people, and I bought a server for us to play on. Then my brother got into it, got his friends into it, and a few of their mothers. Oh, and people I've convinced to buy it online through clans, guilds, and other games I play. In total, I probably brought in 25 or so Minecraft players.

Everyone in my dorm. One day nobody knew what Minecraft was, the next day there were like 15 people in our commons playing on a server.
Two friends, one is older than me.
Both of 'em were like, "zomg Minecrap is ghey!11!" and after trying it they loved it.
I tried to get get only one of my friends into the game, but he thought that it costs too much and said it wasn't worth it :saddowns:
I showed a few friends it, got really into it, they showed their friends, etc. Chain reaction that spread to half the school.

Math teacher, Woodshop teacher, 14 of my real life friends, tons of Steam friends...
So far I've bought about 10 minecraft accounts as gifts for friends.
my 22 year old brother, who is also in the army, and also in afghanistan, so he never has time to make anything.
My annoying as fuck brother.
I can't say I personally got people to but it but I started with it and bought it to like 4-5 other people (they don't have credit cards for Internet purchase) then they spread it to bunch of other people I know and now we pretty much play together on a server I host.
(It also spread even further to people I don't really know and can't say I spread it there but I'm pretty sure if I never would have bought it no one here wouldn't even know it existed.)
