Update every driver you can find. Download every update from Microsoft. Run a good anti-virus. Post results.
This needed a thread?

scan for viruses, malware, etc. etc. one of the other people using the computer might have been stupid and downloaded something with some kind of virus that latched itself to some stuff in steam.
IT IS. DONT YOU LIE YOUNG MAN, Also find your CPU.
I'm using an inspiron 530s and it has a pentium(d) dual core in it, and a radeon 2400 HD.
I never crash and I have windows 7 64 bit version. But I dont play gmod longer than 2 hours straight
The Intel Express family shared graphics chips (that means they borrow RAM for graphics rendering) are just awful - and comparing your spec to Hippie's, it seems you have the pre-Vista compatible one. That means you have no shader support, and were running source games in DX7 mode, which was removed in the Source 2007 engine. Now all source games use the 2009 engine. DirectX 8 or higher, Pixel shader model 1.1 required.
It is bad for all 3d games, and my dad said vista uses too much userspace, or something like that.
this isn't true at all and your dad is an idiot, what the fuck is "userspace"
I think I know how you might solve your problem. Open Registry Editor (Start - Run... - Type in "regedit" - Click OK). Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source. You should see abbreviations for each of your Source games. Under each one is another key called "Settings". If you click on one of these Settings keys, you'll see what appear to be console commands. These are the game's various settings. Find ScreenWidth and ScreenHeight and set them to your monitor's native width and height, respectively. Launch the game and see if it worked.
I'm about ready to make a thread on this.
