This mod was denied Steamworks access. haha even valve knows a bland mod when they see one
I don't think not being on steam is an insult. It's easy to get steamworks... EDIT: lol not easy*
I don't think not being on steam is an insult. It's easy to get steamworks...
Uh, if its so easy then why did it get denied? Because it sucks.
DORSA UPDATE We are back with another update. We are rapidly approaching our release day and are looking forward to playing with all of you guys! We are here to present you a sneak peak at the mysterious 5th level that has only been recently announced and to be included in the Beta 1.2 release - CTF_DORSA. This map offers plenty of variety. The bases are each 3 stories tall and have plenty of rooms, places for cover, and requires a plethora of teamwork not only to infiltrate the enemy base - but to get out of it as well. The map is set up like a huge arena / thunderdome in a volcanic setting. There are plenty of ways across the map, including using the hanging platform in the middle, jetpacking across, or taking the lower route near the lava and mining vehicles. This is the first map in Orion that is being showcased using Color Correction. Andrew presented us with this map using Color Correction and impressed me so much with what he did with it that we are going to be going through EVERY Orion map before the Beta 1.2 release and add Color Correction for the users that choose to enable that option. We are going to be showcasing updated gameplay footage in the next few days after we conduct a few more beta tests. You will be able to see Dorsa in motion! Make sure to prepare for the release of Beta 1.2 which is coming out on MONDAY, JUNE 14TH, 2010. LOOKING FOR ADDITIONAL GAME FILE MIRRORS AND GAME SERVER HOSTS We are currently searching for a few more partners that are able to host and distribute the Beta 1.2 client upon the release. If you are an individual or a gaming network and see this as a feasible option - please refer to the contact methods below. We are also looking for people that are able to host additional Windows-based Game Servers for Orion Beta 1.2. We have 10-20 that we are going to provide - but the more the merrier! If you believe you can help with this, please contact me: Direct Email: david@prassel.com Steam: Praz34 Skype: david.prassel Make sure to visit us on our website: http://www.orion-project.net Come join our Community Forums for exclusive content! http://www.orion-project.net/forum
Halo: Source?
Except this is a bit better
this mod = all graphics, no gameplay, community is a bunch of bhopping shitheads. crysis = good graphics, repetitive gameplay, but not as horrible as orion mod, friendly non-pc elitist community. (yes, thats right, they are NOT pc elitist assholes like all the other communitys.) halo = lesser graphics, good balanced gameplay, bad community. no winner in this bunch, but i see one big loser however. a very bland loser at that.
certified - so much hate towards something when I don't see you making something better or doing more with your life rather than trying to be a hot shot on an online message board? Why not offer some valid criticism to help us improve the overall game for the community instead of slamming it? Considering how involved with the community we are and how we actively make changes to improve the game based on what users say, I'd say it's a better chance of us making a better game than the above companies - make use of it.
make the game look less like a bland deathmatch game
ahem, i believe keychain proved the point on you a few posts up. bland mod is bland. crysis>orion halo>orion as far as i have seen, you have focused more on graphics then gameplay @ pictures&posts about mod. your "community" is a bunch of bhopping shitheads who use cheap weapons, headshotting people from another side of the map (possible aimbotters). as proved in some other posts earlier, your mod is none more then a HL2DM reskin with a few new features. signed, sealed, delivered. /thread
Whatever floats your boat, buddy.
This is like HL2:DM with fakefactory skins and changed models, no offense.
Gotta love how OP is pretty much only registered here to advertise this mod. Yet he can't even defend it properly, let alone take 'critism' on it. It's bland, there is nothing that stands out besides the graphics.
Sorry, guys, but what do YOU think DOESN'T stand out about it? What do you think should be ADDED to make it more unique? You're not giving constructive criticism at all. You're just blatantly shooting down a mod in which you've never played the multiplayer (The main part of it, mhmm?), judging it entirely on screenshots and videos. Try giving criticism that isn't just "This mod sucks, it's not as good as retail games." *sigh*
here is how to improve your bland mod by leaps and bounds! gameplay>graphics, unless you are trying to make crysis: source. remove Bhopping, make guns hell less accurate. otherwise, scrap the whole thing now, and apply at crytek or some overrated 1st party ps3 developer where you can help make all the overrated graphics>gameplay games you want.
The guns are less accurate in 1.2. The power, accuracy, and such of the guns can be edited by the server owner at will (I think.) Also, I haven't seen any bunnyhopping. What's the point of bhopping, anyway? You have a jetpack, which lets you get around ten times faster. I'd just wait to 1.2 before you point out features and bugs which have already been changed or fixed. here is how to improve your bland mod by leaps and bounds! I'm not a developer :downs:
I'm not a developer :downs:
then tell me why you, are telling us what constructive criticism of this bland mod is then?
i will only play if the developers aren't so obsessive about so many shitty maps holy FUCK.
then tell me why you, are telling us what constructive criticism of this bland mod is then?
Because it isn't a bland mod. I beta test for Orion, and it's not like HL2DM or Halo or Crysis. If I had to compare it to a game, It'd be Tribes or UT2K4. I'll just keep knocking down unfair criticism based entirely on information from 1.0.
your supporters are outnumbered. you are biased for the mod, and refuse to give US any valid points while we continuously put valid points in. anyway, and again... /thread (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - TH89))
This is like HL2:DM with fakefactory skins and changed models, no offense.
And Dinosaurs
And Dinosaurs
too bad they aren't in the game.
too bad they aren't in the game.
Yet...
I think you should all give them/him/her a break. If you're going to give constructive critism, it dosen't hurt to be polite. Personally, I haven't played the mod, Unfortunately I no longer download every mod that gets released (Used to before Source came)infact I only have one mod installed. I don't really play deathmatch mods. Probably the best I ever played was ActionHalf-Life. I think they deserve a little slack. They are only trying to add to the lifespan of the game we all purchased and the community/scene we all hang around. Whether their efforts would be better spent on something else is well open for disscussion, though I believe that what they are doing is at least something. Edit: Oh and I like the sound of JetPacks! But Then I would being a former Tribes2 player ;) *hail to the true king baby* See now this got me thinking, have you got a lakrabbit gameplay mode (I used to love sundried)? And/Or? HL1 used to have a mod called Halowars or something where upon getting the Halo (ring) you get all the powerups and weapons, a bit like quake3's quad damage.

This would truly benefit everyone as it would allow us to pump out more content for the Beta, including achievements, hats, statistics and tons of other features we would really love to add to the game as well as improvements and new content. Valve is considering Orion for a SteamWorks release based on player activitiy and overall acceptance of the Beta 1.2 release. You can help make this a reality by simply downloading the Beta as well as playing it as much as your heart desires! Finally released? Awesome, can't wait to play.
This mod look pretty cool actually.
What do people have against this mod? It's fun, enjoyable, and it looks nice.
The download is optional, why did most of the people on the previous page trash it?! I've played it and it's a great mod, it's fun.
There were a few corrupted file uploads. We are in the process of fixing them now - we apologize for any inconvenience we caused. The ModDB mirrors are your best bet at this point.
