None of the game's ideas are thought out or fully explored, so the game feels like a series of dead ends in a world that is hard to care about, in which you play a bland character doing boring things against stock enemies using weak guns. No, because its human nature to try to explain something we don't really know much about in terms of something we do. Although it can get pretty annoying sometimes. [editline]4th October 2011[/editline]
See above video. Not to mention, it's just fucking wrong, PC gamers aren't dumb, we should be allowed to set the graphics to what we want.
Well shit, that video is artifacting for me. [editline]4th October 2011[/editline]
Wait. ID software, the company that basically jump started PC gaming, made a console port? :suicide: Its just Valve and Blizzard now lmao, everyone fucking sold out. I knew there was something fishy about all those development videos. The developers sounded more like PR people than actual developers :v:
Except you forgot CDProjekt Red and Arenanet you ass. Oh and Bethesda is still doing a pretty good job by giving mod support. Or the various companies (mainly indie/small time, but still) that develop solely for the PC? Oh wait, you're blinded by fanboyism. [editline]4th October 2011[/editline] Oh, and Tripwire, although their bugtastic release of RO2 makes me a bit concerned.
Not sure what sort of bugs you guys are experiencing, the textures are being rendered for me when I turn a sharp corner but other than that everything looks phenomenal. Maybe it's just me?
There never were any, did you look at the official screenshots? Megatexture tech was never a good idea, too much work for too little gain.
Carmack said that they'd release a 25gb texture pack for the game after release during his keynote thingy.
Human nature or not, these comparisons are massively basic. They're being made based off a few tiny factors, literally the only solid one is the post apocalyptic theme. IMO its poor journalism. They should be explaining it in their own terms giving a proper analysis instead of "its not as good as this game".
"or Fallout without actual choice, characters, or consequences."
Except Rage's gunplay isn't an unpolished turd.

And Fallout is a totally different kind of a game.

Like you said, things should be judged on their own merits, not on the merits of others.
-snip-
Broken save system? Weak shooting? Doesn't sound like the game I've been playing. Although, I haven't yet gone beyong the first couple of quests.
I'm 4:50hours in and I still think it was worth the money.
Just bought it, got it for like $33 (that's around 23€)
1 more hour. can't wait.
Available: 7 October 2011 This game will unlock in approximately 2 days and 10 hours Hnnngnhhhhhgh
13 minutes left on download. Also, those waiting for it to unlock. Use a VPN. Decrypt game through VPN, launch game through VPN then unplug internet just to be safe.
Or just put Steam in offline mode.
What exactly is a VPN? I've heard it loads of time but never really knew what it was.
I have 2 days until it gets released. I think I'll just get a refund. I heard the game isn't quite good.
time to play this game. Yet it says "PRE-LOAD" How do I fix this.
What exactly is a VPN? I've heard it loads of time but never really knew what it was.
Virtual Private Network. In a nutshell, you connect to the internet through another connection, kind of like a proxy.
Game name fits my mood while playing it
I have 2 days until it gets released. I think I'll just get a refund. I heard the game isn't quite good.
If you bought it on Steam you can't get a refund, trust me i've tried to get refunds on some games, even on Champions Online before it went free.
time to play this game. Yet it says "PRE-LOAD" How do I fix this.
Restart Steam.
If you bought it on Steam you can't get a refund, trust me i've tried to get refunds on some games, even on Champions Online before it went free. .
It's possible to get Pre-Order refunds. The game isn't released yet in Europe.' "An exception is made for games purchased during a pre-order period if the request is received prior to the games' release date." https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8360-WEJC-2625#refund
Oh well fuck it then, i'll get a refund on Serious Sam 3 since it comes out after Saints Row 3 does.
If you try you can get a refund if it's not out yet. I have done so before with a few other games. Don't just say "People say it's crap"

I cancelled my order from what i've heard so far. I just really don't want to pay these kind of prices for yet another buggy game release. If it's patched or the problems are with only a minority of players then i'll get it or wait until it's cheaper. As a PC player i'm fed up of all the new titles £30+ promising and looking like awesome games but finding out after coughing up money that they're no good until at least a few patches. Red Orchestra, Total war, Cliffs of Dover, F1 2010/2011 to name but a few. Seriously game companies, fuck off with that shit. Anyway, will keep an eye on this thread. See what people say.
I played it on my friend's Xbox and it doesn't have these graphical issues but that doesn't stop the game from being ridiculously generic, bland, linear, and the story and characters do nothing to draw me in to the game world. A lot of times I end up getting excited and preordering total flops but I'm glad I saw this one coming.
Annoying me how decrypting is taking forever.
