Any multiplayer in this game? Never brought attention on it, but this interested me.
I'm sad that it's so unrealistic and arcadey. :smith: [editline]30th June 2011[/editline] Even unrealism in a Fallout level would still be cool, but this just seems over the top.
Don't see that at all. I'd rather have fun racing with boosts and weapons (which make sense in this world, they have to spend their time doing something!) than Gran Turismo 2097.
What I'm looking forward to is Doom 4, supposedly it will be three times better looking than Rage and will appeal to classic Doom fans. Who doesn't like the idea of classic Doom gameplay and a bunch of fancy eye candy combined?
Doom 4 will be sex. I hope we get to see it at this years Quakecon. Skyrim and Doom 4 at a huge fucking LAN party; it's beautiful.
Yeah, a racing mode and a standard DM mode is all that is announced.
The "race" mode is the deathmatch mode, it's going to be vehicle combat. There's no traditional deathmatch. There's also going to be some co-op missions that tie in to the single-player story.
What a shame
Im confused, i thought this was an fps where you could drive and such, not the otherway around, but the only announced multiplayer mode is vehicular deathmatch?

I've heard much about this game, so much praise and all. Now I actually looked the game up, sounds pretty promising. But when I watched a few videos I was terribly disappointed, looks not to great at all. Well it's not the finished product but still, looks like it needs some improvement.
I agree it does seem very arcadey and like a 90s shooter, Id can't just repeat the same gameplay from doom and expect it to work today in 2011. It's a shame as the actuall premise of the game was promising.
I do not see how combining ammo types, technology and cover and tactics is anything alike a Doom game. All I ever did was run and gun in any iD game prior to this. RAGE is anything other than Arcadey.
Conoles destroyed this... The first footage they showed, back when they presented ID Tech 5 and the Editor was brilliant. Now all I see is washed out textures. Megatextures my ass
Well, those conoles you mentioned seem to be very frightening.
OP Put header in [release] [/release] thanks.

So what's supposed to be good about this game? So far it looks like Borderlands formula where you get a quest, drive to similar wastelandy places, and kill shit/find something except that this is much darker and slower paced. I'm not trying to bash it but I just honestly want to know what in all of this is appealing to people because I personally haven't seen anything that would make me buy this game over any other.

For now what makes this different from Borderlands are the graphics and enemies. Even the music is similar.
This isn't a point and random weapon based game. This is a serious story driven FPS set in a realistic Post-Apocalyptic world with a very fleshed out fiction. The combat isn't stats and abilities, it's using technology and tactics. It's a very different game from Borderlands. And it's iD, they've never made a bad game. Borderlands isn't even Post-Apocalyptic, just saying that before someone says that that is why they're similar. If that's a Doom 3 joke then box for you. Doom 3 is good game, just because it's not like Doom or Doom 2 doesn't mean it's a bad game. It's an acclaimed game and it was a good game. But opinions, I just think you're wrong. And besides, that is kind of avoiding my whole point.

[editline]1st July 2011[/editline] What?
Well I'm just judging from what I've seen so far and so far I haven't seen a single thing you mentioned. All I've seen is you drive in your buggy to a wastelandy place and run n gun until you complete the objective.
However way you look at it we will never know how the game will play out until we get our hands on it.
I'm sad that it's so unrealistic and arcadey. :smith: [editline]30th June 2011[/editline] Even unrealism in a Fallout level would still be cool, but this just seems over the top.
How is this over the top unrealistic and arcadey? What do you even mean by arcadey? There aren't any numbers telling how much damage you did, there isn't a experience bar constantly being filled with more numbers, there also isn't any achievement pop ups breaking immersion. Also, Fallout is on the farthest end of the anti-realism spectrum. In Fallout, it takes numerous shots to kill someone even when all your shooting is their head. How would that be better for a game like RAGE? At least in RAGE you don't have to aimlessly shoot the same guy 10+ times in a row to kill them (Minus the giant mutated creatures). RAGE is a action shooter with RPG elements, Fallout is an RPG with shooter elements. If you think the extreme unrealistic shooter elements in Fallout would be better for a more shooting focused game like Rage, then you have no idea what your talking about.
The people who complain about the game obviously are not manly enough to play.
Clearly.
The people who complain about the game obviously are not manly enough to play.
I don't know about you, but I haven't played it because it isn't out yet and I'm not really complaining, I'm just skeptical If it actually turns out the way OP says it will then yeah I would certainly buy it. They just haven't shown any of that yet.
There seems to be a lot of bias towards this game because it's developed by id. For me, I don't really care, there are a lot of other games that I enjoyed that was made by indie and new companies while id was busy with Q4 and Tech5. Sure, I'll probably enjoy this because it's a good solid FPS (I hope), but that's it. Being a good FPS game isn't enough to wow people anymore I think. I'd expect something more innovative from id than just run and gun game. Just feels that they are a bit late to the party.
Those mutants remind me of those ones from the movie Pandorum.

I wonder if they'll keep in speed jumping, that shit is fun to do.
