Does anyone know how to fix the microphone problem? Where the game takes control of your mic, and doesnt use it.
RAGE in a nutshell: 22 GIGABYTES OF SHITTY 64X64 TEXTURES. Seriously, id being the guys behind technology and all, I expected pretty graphics.
I just bought it. The game is fun. I'm liking it. But I just can't stand playing it with all these graphic bugs. I hate turning around and seeing all that blocky shit. Even all these fixes I've tried haven't seem to be working. I really hope they fix this soon.
Does anyone know how to fix the microphone problem? Where the game takes control of your mic, and doesnt use it.
The reason nobody is answering this question is because nobody knows how to fix it. Wait for a patch.
RAGE starts up fine. I've disabled the intro videos by deleting the "videos" folder in "base".
Looks like someone needs to reverify their game files! [sp]The loading movies aren't the only cutscenes, you know.[/sp]
Yeah I don't remember Doom 3's textures looking that sharp, probably modded :thatsthejoke:
Then again this is an idtech 5 problem. I don't really see modders creating a new megatexture file for their mod considering how massive it is
Alright, the autoexec file helped out a lot with the graphical issues but I'm still getting massive screen tearing. Anyone know a fix for it?
I got this one on Xbox. (my pc is dated) I installed the 22gb file, and I have to say. This game is gorgeous. I am sure ID will release a patch for it right away to fix the issues for some of you. I was watching my buddy play it on his rig, and his ran like a charm. Looked stunning too.

The close up textures are disappointing, but from any distance, the game just looks fantastic.
-TotalBiscuit's WTF is RAGE-
Good overview, it seems to have a lot of flaws but still fun overall. I'll probably pick this up later after the issues have been addressed.
Jeez the game really looks this bad on default settings? [t]http://www.geforce.com/Active/en_US/shared/images/articles/ragetexturetweak/RageComparison-Animated.gif[/t]
Out of curiosity, has anyone managed to force these textures on their machines? Curious as to whether it's just the settings downscaling textures or just poor textures full stop.
So far my biggest complaint is shit like this and crossfire crashing the game.
Out of curiosity, has anyone managed to force these textures on their machines? Curious as to whether it's just the settings downscaling textures or just poor textures full stop.
I've gotten them to work quite well on my PC, using the commands provided. It's quite definitely a problem with the texture downscalingscaling. The only problem I had was with 16k textures, where the game would refuse to load up at all. Of course, even with the high-resolution textures, looking at small things closely still shows them as pretty undetailed. I think RAGE would've looked better if they'd used both normal texturing and megatextures at the same time, instead of having megatextures for everything but NPCs and usable objects.
I have Rage on my iPod and quite a while ago I finished it, it was three levels from the Bash TV thing. I'm just curious, but does the proper Rage game have Bash TV in it? And if so (also providing someone else also played the iPod/iPhone one) how do the two different versions compare?
Considering buying this for console, is it worth it?
Anyone know a VPN to use to play the game, I've already preloaded.

Once you get a little bit into the game's plot, you can go through it anytime you like.
I hope this isn't late but I've only just now discovered this thread. This page has Steam launch options for Rage. Just right click Rage and go to properties then click launch options and put these in: V-sync: +r_swapinterval 1 Better texture quality and no texture popping: +vt_pageImageSizeUnique 8192 +vt_pageImageSizeUniqueDiffuseOnly 8192 +vt_pageImageSizeUniqueDiffuseOnly2 8192
Aaaah after 3 and a half days the pre-loading is finally done :D such is life on 0.8 mbit internet
I just bought the game, and on intro, I ignored the guy who said "Get in" and walk around. And then I got shot. Restarting plays the whole unskippable(is it loading that time?) intro all over again. Such punishment.
I just got the meaning of the name of the game 'RAGE', I thought it was one of those snappy titles, no, no it isn't, this game is the perfect RAGE simulator.
Wow, i even thought they are coming up with solution...but after seeing that thread on beth forum i don't think they know what to do...lol it would be funny, if it weren't sad
I'm glad I decided to not pre-order this game. If in a few weeks they've fixed the majority of the issues it I might pick it up, it still looks like a game I would enjoy.
Jeez the game really looks this bad on default settings?
There aren't... really any defaults. Unless you mean modifying the config.
yay valve will refund my pre-order! It's not yet released in Finland!
So... what's the big deal with megatextures anyway? How does it differ from "normal" textures and why does the game have 15GBs of textures when there are bigger games with better quality textures that are less in filesize?
-snip-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MegaTexture
Yeah, could've checked Wikipedia first. Thanks. [editline]6th October 2011[/editline] Not really sure which one I'd prefer... some repetition or some extremely low resolution objects.
Repetition of course If the game is well designed and it has good textures you won't even notice it unless you go looking
Repetition of course If the game is well designed and it has good textures you won't even notice it unless you go looking
True, true. Usually in games with big environments the repetition can only be seen from very far away. By the way, does this game have a map?
