Will be released? Well that would be fourth one to "fix" rage, first was the wrong one, then hotfix for it, after that was 11.10. None of them work for me, nor does 11.9 or 11.8. What drivers ID used to test rage? Because i want those.
I don't know what they used during testing. But the fact is that ATI didn't live up to obligation as the graphics card manufacturers to release drivers that worked. It's not id's job to write the drivers. They did go back and forth with ATI to get good drivers. But ATI released the wrong ones. And the drivers released the other day fixed issues for a lot of people. @CatalystCreator Andrew D The V2 11.10 driver doesn't include any new performance gains for BF3 or Rage - it's now unified and resolves some Rage issues plus Xp/Vista
So every single driver update since rage was released has been wrong ones? Someone needs to inform them about it. I still have texture artifacts/corruption, no tweaking or a driver has fixed that. I shouldn't have to go to these lengths to get game working, i never before needed to. Clearly, something is wrong with the game.
AMD admitted to fucking up the drivers. 360 is an AMD driven non-dynamic system. Reality > you.
Fucking waste of 60$, even if it is good. I just want to play, hopefully it'll do better when I get my new rig, if not then I'll cut-a-bitch.
AMD admitted to fucking up the drivers. 360 is an AMD driven non-dynamic system. Reality > you.
Sure they royally fucked up, but what drivers ID then used to test it? Because no driver so far has fixed the game properly. I can choose between: 1. 10 or less fps, with textures loading slow. This is with 11.9 and with/without config tweaking. 2. 60 fps with horrible texture artifacts/corruption, but fast texture loading. This is with the "fix" driver and and with/without config tweaking. 3. Fast texture loading with no artifacts/corruption, but freezes every 2 seconds for 2-5 seconds. this is with any driver and with/without config tweaking, with Catalyst AI enabled (some people say it fixes it, but for me it causes freezing)
I was better off without the drivers. [thumb]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/577810212152968399/DF0452A092190609793E9B7BC01D5005D18245F6/[/thumb]
How do I improve texture quality? (AMD 5870 with newest drivers from today)
Is anyone else having the problem when sometimes when you enter a new area/building the game crashes? I need some help here, because I can't get any farther in the game.
Is anyone else having the problem when sometimes when you enter a new area/building the game crashes? I need some help here, because I can't get any farther in the game.
My game crashes every other time I enter a new area, and I can't even load a save. Oh, and, broken textures everywhere. I'm not going to go around bashing id, the game is beautiful as a whole (and let's face it, I'm not going to be zooming in at a wall from 2 inches away the whole time), and when they get this driver stuff sorted out the game will be fantastic.
Well I can load a save, and that seems to work with most areas, because it autosaves me being in that area that I crashed trying to get too. It works then. But now I can't get into the Prison, because it autosaves me at the entrance to the prison so I can't enter.
Sure they royally fucked up, but what drivers ID then used to test it?

“The driver issues at launch have been a real cluster !@#$,” he wrote. “We were quite happy with the performance improvements that we had made on AMD hardware in the months before launch; we had made significant internal changes to cater to what AMD engineers said would allow the highest performance with their driver and hardware architectures, and we went back and forth with custom extensions and driver versions.” “We knew that all older AMD drivers, and some NVIDIA drivers would have problems with the game, but we were running well in-house on all of our test systems. When launch day came around and the wrong driver got released, half of our PC customers got a product that basically didn’t work. The fact that the working driver has incompatibilities with other titles doesn’t help either. Issues with older/lower-end/exotic setups are to be expected on a PC release, but we were not happy with the experience on what should be prime platforms.”
Source!

I wonder if they put bunny-hopping in on purpose
[hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQ5DbGpKO-M&feature=channel_video_title[/hd]
Doom style straferunning? FUCK YES.
Doom style straferunning? FUCK YES.
quake also his technique is terrible

(apparently not)
Can I get some help with the crashing? I want to finish the game.
This game isn't really that great. I rented it a few days ago and just beat it now, the ending sucked imo.
They most likely overlooked bunny hopping considering your character injures himself after falling 4 feet.
How do people not enjoy this game? I just wasted today playing Rage on PS3. Even though the graphical bugs and lack of graphics settings are shameful and need fixing, the game itself is really amazing, one of my favorites this year so far. The combat just feels.. awesome? Enemy AI is clever and varied, the feeling of a Ghost sidestepping your Wingstick only to get blasted in the face by a shotgun is just awesome. The character design and overall ambiance of the world is absolutely amazing, the level design is so creative and unique, and the characters and enemies are all really gorgeous and stunning, full of personality. The quests, surprisingly, are varied and story-backed enough that I actually enjoy doing them and am actively looking for jobs to do. Even the side quests are fun and feel meaningful. Rage's technical difficulties on launch are seriously annoying, but underneath the graphical errors there's a really awesome game underneath. I'm really glad id was able to put together a modern title so successfully. [del]It made me sad hearing my idol, John Carmack, say this though: "We do not see the PC as the leading platform for games," Carmack added. "That statement will enrage some people, but it is hard to characterize it otherwise; both console versions will have larger audiences than the PC version. A high end PC is nearly 10 times as powerful as a console, and we could unquestionably provide a better experience if we chose that as our design point and we were able to expend the same amount of resources on it." -via Kotaku, linking because fuck Kotaku I wish I could believe that their focus on the consoles was all ZeniMax & Bethesda's fault, but reading this, it really does sound like they've just decided that the people who made them developer gods aren't as important as the profits from console players.[/del] http://www.gamepur.com/news/5668-carmack-developing-rage-consoles-was-big-mistake.html FAITH RESTORED, FUCK KOTAKU
Does this game have leveling, and skill levels, perks and shit? Seems stupid, but that's the buying point right now to whether or not I buy the game
Does this game have leveling, and skill levels, perks and shit? Seems stupid, but that's the buying point right now to whether or not I buy the game
No levels or perks, but there is a sort of RPG feel to the game. The way your aresenal expansion and vehicle upgrades are paced definitely gives you the same motivation as RPG elements.
It's hard to find a co-op buddy that doesn't ragequit after losing the first two defibs within a minute. I don't understand what's so difficult about it.
Does the game notify you when you reach the point of no return?
Does the game notify you when you reach the point of no return?
I just got to the Eastern Wasteland and the game doesn't tell you but the dialogue before you choose to leave makes it pretty obvious.
I just got to the Eastern Wasteland and the game doesn't tell you but the dialogue before you choose to leave makes it pretty obvious.
I was referring to the final mission, I'd like to know when there's no turning back. Also, you can return to the Wasteland after going to the Eastern Wasteland. You can talk to a guy in the Resistance base and he flies you back.
Wheee, the latest ATI drivers make the game actually load the correct textures (as opposed to black squares), sure it did crash when I left an area, but atleast it's actually freaking playable.
I can't even start the game with these new ATI drivers, I'm getting "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" error on startup.
The beta Nvidia drivers also made it worse. Before updating I just had quickly popping textures where I'd look, now they load much slower because it just decides to load textures in completely unrelated places. But hey at least it's playable for me at all, and more so it runs at a high framerate. I expected nothing but a crippling perfromance on my GT 220 and got the opposite so that's quite neat
Just rented this to decide whether or not I'd enjoy it enough to buy it. I actually found the first couple of hours of gameplay and the story set up interesting, but has anyone else found it stupidly easy too play? I spent literally like the first 2 hours doing nothing but punching pretty much every enemy in sight to death just because it's just as easy as shooting them and it's hilarious. I played on the hardest difficulty, by the way. Does the difficulty increase or is does it seem to stay the same? [editline]8th October 2011[/editline] Also, running into rocks at 25KM/h on an ATV only too see your character go hurdling 40 feet straight in the air is also hilariously fantastic.
Hey how many of you guys have actually used the fists? I just discovered that even on the hardest difficulty they are often a one hit kill for most enemies im never using a gun again
