As much as I enjoy the combat in this game and have not had any graphical problems, I just cannot seem to spend more time on it.
It's really a shame that so many people are being plagued by graphical bugs, the game itself is really fun, I think it would have been infinitely more popular if there wasn't all this commotion with bad drivers and this stupid realtime settings management stuff :(
I agree, now that i have had chance to play the game without the graphical bugs it looks and feels good (Especially the animations). Even with my old hardware it looks very nice and runs with 50+ FPS.
for some reason using WASD to move changes the item in my quick slot, it's weird
Is there seriously any way to fix these graphical problems without having to read a god damn textbook's worth of information?

If you have ATI HD Raedon 4/5 series, you could try out the tweaking i posted here. You also could try the 11.6 drivers, those have been reported to fix it for some users.
If you have an ATI GPU try updating to the latest drivers. That fixed it for me. However, doing so makes the texture pop-in happen again, and the game lag a lot more. But hey, you can at least continue playing. :P
I updated yesterday...
Sheriff Black sounds awfully familiar.

No perfomance issues HIGH fps everything goes soo smooth
The game starts freezing randomly. It's something like freezes for a few seconds, then I can play for a few seconds, then it freezes again and so on.
Does anyone else have this problem?
There's even a video of this shit

I have the latest NVIDIA driver, game ran smoothly till this shit started happening, so my specs aren't the problem.

I'm gona try this one, because the reason I had to use the low end config file from the steam forums, was because, durrr, I was lagging horribly. I really hope the game starts being like it should of been.
absolutely nothing works for me, so I guess I'll wait for an official patch.
Blurry textures acted as a clear indicator of a botched game launch for id Software's Rage last week. Plagued by serious technical problems, the PC version angered customers with driver issues, texture pop-in and a surprising dearth of graphical options. A patch has since addressed several of these shortcomings, and id co-founder John Carmack has commented on the graphics driver issues -- what he calls a "cluster!@#$" -- that prevented some players from making it past the intro.
Speaking to Kotaku, Carmack pins some of the blame on incorrect drivers issued by graphics card vendors. "When launch day came around and the wrong driver got released, half of our PC customers got a product that basically didn't work." And though he admits that problems with old and exotic setups are to be expected, "we were not happy with the experience on what should be prime platforms."
Of course, product launches such as these reinforce the belief that publishers consider every system a "prime platform." It's just that some are more prime than others. "You can choose to design a game around the specs of a high-end PC and make console versions that fail to hit the design point, or design around the specs of the consoles and have a high-end PC provide incremental quality improvements," Carmack says. "We chose the latter."
It's an appropriate stance in the big business of multiplatform games, but even those incremental quality improvements were hard to find on launch day. We can confirm that the latest PC patch introduces several graphical settings which had already been snuck in through user-made configuration files, including anisotropic filtering, texture cache size and V-sync, which also has a "smart" option that allows tearing only when framerate drops below 60.
(Note: We had trouble getting the V-sync option to stick, since the Nvidia profile for Rage defaults to "Force Off." To correct this, set it to "3D application controlled.")
The patch has not addressed the texture shortcomings.

For maybe people it did. Fixed any graphical or texture issues I had.

Yeah, I lawld when I saw that on Joystiq.
It's nice to see some journos actually making their opinions known rather than hiding behind marketing bs for fear of losing advertising.
I'm so glad I don't have an ATI card right now
ATI cards are fine.
I use an ATI card
I got the driver. it worked. everyone doesn't know how pc gaming works...
New engine = bigger chance of driver fuck ups

It worked for you, so automatically everybody that's having trouble with ATI cards are wrong?
I tried the fix at http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1237580-the-best-fix-at-the-moment, and it works like a charm, the textures now load faster, fps is higher, overall, a godsend. The only problem is that there is still the minor texture loading problem, buts its hardly notisable, and I just have a HUGE drop in FPS in the hospital in the dead city, but that should be better once I leave. Thanks for the fix link!
You do? Ah damn wasted my money then since I literally bought it two missions before doing that one :v:
It's behind a grindlock door with 300+ rounds of ammo and some paint tins.
Anyone want to do the wasteland legends with me on nightmare? Ive gotten the first 7 or so missions done but I'm stuck on extermination.

look at the table and the wall.
are these the hd textures?
i used the last fix which was posted here from the bethesda forums. if they are not the hd textures, is there any other way to get them?
i have a 2gb hd 6950, 8gb ram and a phenom ii x6 1090t (3,2ghz)
Seems normal, not all textures are that sharp, which begs the question, when will id release the superhighres textures?
