Reports from an anonymous source suggesting Doom 4 has been indefinitely postponed have been labelled "complete boll****" by Bethesda VP of PR and marketing, Pete Hine
Source: http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/doom_4/news/bethesda_doom_4_hasnt_been_cancelled.html Now, may we stop taking Kotaku and Gawker Media seriously?
"Re: DOOM 4 rumor, games are done when they are done and no title under development at id has been postponed – indefinitely or otherwise."
Have they fixed the technical issues this game has been having yet? Cuz i'm seriously thinking of getting it along with the GTA4 complete pack while it's on sale but i'm not sure they did or not.
Anyone?
Anyone?
They've fixed a lot of them. Some people still have some trouble though. But the big graphical problems like texture popping seems to have mostly been fixed and the game runs fine for me at least.
I thought the whole point of the Zenimax buyout was so id would have funds available and not be constrained by a publishers demands? Anyways, I knew that was complete bullshit. Even with the terrible PC launch, I'm sure it did great on the consoles.
Finally finished the game. What a disappointing ending. Since it was an Id game I was hoping for some huge boss.
I was expecting a big boss fight after [sp]hearing Norbu talking to someone about something that's 60ft tall under authority control.[/sp] I suspect we will see this as DLC in the future.
Finally finished the game. What a disappointing ending. Since it was an Id game I was hoping for some huge boss.
I still want to see them do what they had originally wanted to do for the finale of Doom II. The originally wanted to make you face off against a gigantic demon that functioned the same as the final Doom II boss. Except it would be an actual demon so it would be able to move around and shit.
Okay, anyone have any idea why the sound in my game sounds like it's all 240p?
Okay, anyone have any idea why the sound in my game sounds like it's all 240p?
It can't. That's a frame resolution. How about low fidelity mono?
Okay, anyone have any idea why the sound in my game sounds like it's all 240p?
Dunno man, set your resolution to surround and your sound quality to 1920x1080 and try again.
I was expecting a big boss fight after [sp]hearing Norbu talking to someone about something that's 60ft tall under authority control.[/sp] I suspect we will see this as DLC in the future.
Isn't that [sp]the dead city mutant you fight first time there[/sp]?
Damn, I wish I could have stayed in Subway Town longer.
I'm right at the mission where I've won the cuprino and I'm gonna be headed north. This game is amazing, the graphics are subpar though, that's my only gripe but the good gameplay makes up for it. Derp I'm dumb, apparently there's a fix to use rhi-res textures for nvidia cards, let's see what my 9800gtx+ can handle.
Wow, that was the worst fucking ending ever. After killing all the mutants, when [sp]all the Arcs emerge[/sp] I though now there would be some awesome mission where [sp]all the arc survivors attack the Authority and with a huge boss fight against the Authority boss[/sp] at the end of the game. It feels like they just forgot about including the last mission. It was so abrupt. Like if LotR ended right when the alliance stands in front of Mordor. "That's it. Imagine the ending however you want :saddowns:" The worst part is that everything up to the ending was awesome and raised my expectations for the ending. Not having an ending at all is just fucking stupid.
I'm tempted to trade this in. I haven't even finished it. It's gotten horribly redundant because I'm just going from A-B, shooting some mutants, and going back from B-A. And if it's got a terrible ending I'm not sure if I even want to finish this. The game's a disappointment in my eyes.
My reactions: 1. The mountains look beautiful! This game is gonna be huge! 2. Well the textures are quite decent 3. Hey these graphics are strangely dated 4. What the hell is with this crashing 5. Shoot mutants... AGAIN 6. Hello there uninteresting character #234 7. Must. Finish. The singleplayer 8. What a disapointing ending 9. Phew now to the multiplayer... which seems to suck Yeah maybe thats just because im overly critical on PC games. The game isnt that bad, but its also very unsatisfying, you know what I mean? Its a nice treat while waiting for Skyrim. Gonna play trough it again to get a better view. I also hated Fallout: NV when I first played it. Then I started a new game and fell in love. I wish the same will also happen with Rage. I hope Id manages to focus on Doom 4 even though Rage was a bit of a disapointment for everyone. Rage gets a 7/10 after the first playtrough
I love the NPC animations in this game, Id really outdid themselves on that regard imo. Like, shoot a guy in the leg and he drags himself behind cover, shoot someone in the stomach and they come at you while they're clutching their chest, etc.
Finished it, and well. It was actually enjoyable. I love it how some of the weapons have bullets that are really interesting. Ex. Shotgun and Crossbow. It was working like charm for me, so no problems with that. Funny thing is that game seems to be half polished and half rusty. Anyway, I had fun. But like others said. Ending was a HUGE disappointment. It just leaves you with nothing. I was expecting a bossfight, but nope. All I got was mutants.

And the craftable stuff like advanced wingsticks and advanced bots. And the minigames like the races, that sheriff vs. mutants game and the collecting card game which is strangely addicting. It adds a lot of polish. There are very few recent shooters that have minigames like that, that are completely optional. But again, the ending destroyed everything that the game had built up to. The fight at the end was so ridicolously easy and insignificant. It was 2 minutes of one-hitting mutants with the wingstick. It was kinda fun, but even Mutant Bash TV was more end-worthy. The ending disappointed in both gameplay and story. The only way I could even begin to forgive iD for that "ending" is if they released the ending (which deserves to be called an ending) for free but that will never happen.
I became a bit disenchanted with this once I got to the TV show mission. I was playing on Nightmare, got through the entire bit without getting downed once, and then I got one hit killed by the boss. Maybe I should just lower the settings to Normal so I can at least enjoy the game.
What's the deal with this game's refresh rate? I turn away and every texture is shit basically...
I'm in subway town and now I'm at the point where I'm just playing the game so I can finally get it over with. It feels like there's a certain point where I suddenly lost a lot of interest, mostly because I realized that there's no point in exploring since I know there's nothing really interesting to find, and if you do rummage around, the stuff you find is just there to sell, and at this point in the game, I have a shitload of money, so there's no point to that, either. All the extra stuff was cool early on, but once you have a shitload of money and become familiar with the game, it all becomes pretty meaningless.
doom 3 source is packaged and tested, we are waiting on final lawyer clearance for release.
- John Carmack But where are the x64 binaries?
- John Carmack But where are the x64 binaries?
Fucking sweet.
Ending was bullshit. I didn't even realize it was the end of the game until I noticed I got the achievement for completing it on so and so difficulty.
When I saw the ending at a friend's house, I almost felt like hammering his pc to the ground :v: Its soo boring and anti-climatic. Oh, and they reused Doom3's machine gun low ammo beep and the alert sound in the gearhead powerplant is the same as the emergency alarm in the UAC facilities.

Is there any way to mod for this game? I remember Carmack saying that if you typed id software into the developer console you would get all the tools they used. That was obviously bullshit though.
