What. Are you being serious? It's not Serious Sam or Painkiller fast but it's a fast paced FPS. Deus Ex, Doom 3, Half-Life... those are slow paced FPS games.
I've pre-ordered it, and I'm happy with that.
I'm just a bit disappointed because I'll have no one to play co-op with.
I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find some cool dude on FP to co-op with.
I was supposed to co-op with Legolas, but it's not available in his country.
I played a demo at Quake Con this year. It was pretty fun. Didn't get to play long though.

Me too.
The game reminded me of a love child of Borderlands (mostly the art style) and Quake. The short time I played it pretty much guaranteed a pre-order for me.
Oh, also the game looks amazing, even on all three platforms, but PC version obviously looks the best.
I agree it does seem very arcadey and like a 90s shooter, Id can't just repeat the same gameplay from doom and expect it to work today in 2011. It's a shame as the actuall premise of the game was promising.
Wait what? I know that's an old post but all I ever hear is how good the 90s were and how shooters back then are superior to the ones now that are all plain and super serious. Now that there's an "arcadey 90s like" shooter that's bad too?
I don't know man. The trailer made the shooting look and feel really unsatisfying. And that's a big problem, imo.
I love games where the guns are satisfying to use, like the grenade launcher on the SMG in HL2.
But here, the guns look as if they are really accurate and have nearly no kickback, except on some weapons.
Just have to wait and see. The only gun I think id has gotten wrong is the Shotgun in Doom 3 which I thought was just really stupid, but competent.
I won't decide whether I'll buy it or not until I see some reviews after it's released though.
The game seems a bit hyped, and it looks a lot like Borderlands, but without the satisfaction.
i'll wait until the price goes down, than I might buy for Christmas.

HL2's multiplayer is about as fast paced as it gets.

I didn't get to play any of the shooter parts, but the vehicle parts were fun.

Did I bring up Half-Life 2: Deathmatch?
Did I bring up Half-Life 2: Deathmatch?
Since both the games he mentioned were primarily multiplayer, I just assumed that's what you were talking about.
Nah, I wouldn't compare Deus Ex's multiplayer with anything. The speed of Deus Ex's multiplayer is that of it's own.
RAGE Behind the Scenes, Pt. 6: The Sound and Art

Unfortunately it's the last video of the series.
Since I'm a sucker for id games, I've had this on pre-order for awhile.
Can't wait for post-apocalyptic destruction derby shoot-a-thons
I don't think it will. From everything we've seen you can tell it's kind of a slower paced FPS which, not to say all CoD/Halo fans can't enjoy, is probably something a lot of them will find boring.
Call of duties started getting bored ... just mindless shooting all the time
fast-paced term applies to deathmatch games ... skill is fast paced
for example Starcraft 2 is fast-paced ... versus Company Of Heroes is slower.
RAGE will be a slower-paced game because you actually need to walk more and enemies are really not in the every barrel and corner of the game .... but there are many large open sections room full of enemies .... RAGE is 20 hours long ... barely scratching the surface here.
EDIT: THANKS blackout i was waiting for that video :D
Didn't they say RAGE was 15 hours long?

Is that John Goodman in the beginning?
I <3 John Goodman.
I get more excited for this game the closer it gets.
This might sound dumb, but the style gameplay style where you have your own car and go around the world doing missions... it reminds me of the Legend of Zelda. Seriously! And I'm perfectly ok with that.
I mean come on, the waterworks level and dead city both seem kinda dungeon-esque, right?

More Borderlands than LoZ

"There's brown and guns and cities look very crude!! It's like Borderlands!!"
More Borderlands than LoZ
Stylistically yes but the gameplay reminds me more of a shooter version of LoZ. Borderlands was kind of... there was no distinction between "missions" and the rest of the world.
