I really want this game now
[editline]03:29AM[/editline]
downloading the demo, doubt i'll be able to run it
This game is really worth the money.
Torchlight reminds alot of Diablo I since you go down in floors more and more till you come to the hell.
The game itself is fresh and new but it reminds alot of mythos. I like how the enemies can now with their shields block some attacks i do. The game in normal is easywalk.
Quests are repetive most part. It's worth the money and keeps me playing it for hours. Replay value exist.
oh shit it's working
I bought it the day it came out and I have to say it's a damn nice game
i am now inlove with this game

Fuck I'm going to play the demo, end up loving it, and be forced to buy it even though I'm buried in games.

This... is the story of my life.
That was amazing
:crying:
I just downloaded the demo and played through a couple quests and down to the 3rd floor. Having 4 little imp guys is kickin' rad.
How long does the demo last?
This game is insanely addictive. If I had money I'd buy it.

what ?
The game is pretty awesome.
It's got more of a Diablo feel than Diablo 3(from what footage of Diablo 3 I've seen), and it's been years since I've had so much fun in a hack 'n' slash game.
Hearing great things about this game
Could someone help me, I am at the seer's floor now and it says i got to go to the 10th floor. Problem is, there are only 8 floors. Not including the seers' and the sisters'. And those embers under water, where are they?
There's much more than just 8 floors, you're not looking right.
Really!? I looked for like 2 hours and decided to start an alchemist instead, thought I was bugged :/
Edit: just found out that i had to go right at the spawning place of the seer guy. sigh
Got this game a few days ago. Love it.
Are the fish also used to turn your pet into a different creature? If that's it, I really have to question whether this game has anything original about it, or if it's one more for the pile of generic dungeon-crawlers.

For the hundredth time, the developers who made Torchlight made\worked on:
Diablo 1 (Max Schaefer and Erich Schaefer, co-designers of Diablo 1 & 2 were lead designers)
Diablo 2 (Peter Hu as well)
Mythos (the entire Mythos team helped form Runic games)
Hellgate: London (everyone from Flagship Seattle)
Fate (development of the game was led by Travis Baldree, who designed Fate)
There's a demo on Steam.

Stop complaining if you haven't bothered to try the game.
It's kind of hard not to rip off of everything because they made EVERY SINGLE good dungeon crawler.
I think blizzard here is the ripoff with their Diablo 3.

That doesn't mean they have to keep recycling so much of the games. I never played Mythos, but Hellgate was different... I just hear that it really sucked.
Even if they're taking elements from games they've made themselves, this one isn't automatically fresh and original.
playing the demo, so far its good, I think I will buy it.
is there a way to unlearn your talent points?
Ok, I played the demo... Basically it's Fate with guns and class skills. It has a generally better feel to it than Fate... Like it's a more "solid" game, and hitting the enemies feels more satisfying and such. If I didn't already have Fate and Diablo 2, I'd probably be getting Torchlight.
The one thing I really wish they'd do is take a page from Titan Quest and eliminate the need to have town portal scrolls and identification scrolls. When I first played TQ, I thought it was kind of silly to let players warp back to town at no cost, but then I realized that if you're any higher than level 5, the cost of town portal scrolls is negligible, and they might as well cost nothing. As it is, all these scrolls serve no purpose but adding a bit of tedium to the game and taking up an otherwise useful inventory slot. It's really annoying and pointless. At least they made it so you don't have to keep a fishing rod in your inventory to fish.
I can get this game for $10, but I'm not sure if I really want to. It's just so much of the same.
Fantastic game.
Everything about it feels like they put a lot of love into it.
A few things bother me though...
Obviously, the lack of multiplayer for one, this screams for a party of 8 people raiding the dungeons and caves collecting loot and such.
Taking place in a single town.
I like adventuring across vast landscapes to reach a new town filled with new characters and things to interact with.(Titan Quest did this pretty well, with small towns... forts... large towns... and cities.)
But then again, this doesn't have much in the way of an actual story and as such can get off the hook as just a randomized dungeon crawling game.
The alert that stops the action when your pet comes back from town.
Jesus fucking Christ, I can't tell you how many times I've died because of this god damn thing, I would be in the middle of a clusterfuck of high level monsters clicking like crazy while downing health pots one after the other and all of a sudden I get this giant game stopping notification about my fucking pet coming back, that one second it takes to reposition my mouse on the action tends to cost me my life.
And that's about it, it's an immensely fun game that I'll be playing for awhile.
Only problem I have with this is the Needle Arc bug, can't wait til they fix that so I can start playing without screwing up my xp
