Ok, I played the demo... Basically it's Fate with guns and class skills. It has a generally better feel to it than Fate... Like it's a more "solid" game, and hitting the enemies feels more satisfying and such. If I didn't already have Fate and Diablo 2, I'd probably be getting Torchlight.
The one thing I really wish they'd do is take a page from Titan Quest and eliminate the need to have town portal scrolls and identification scrolls. When I first played TQ, I thought it was kind of silly to let players warp back to town at no cost, but then I realized that if you're any higher than level 5, the cost of town portal scrolls is negligible, and they might as well cost nothing. As it is, all these scrolls serve no purpose but adding a bit of tedium to the game and taking up an otherwise useful inventory slot. It's really annoying and pointless. At least they made it so you don't have to keep a fishing rod in your inventory to fish.
I can get this game for $10, but I'm not sure if I really want to. It's just so much of the same.
One of the first things that dropped for me was a town portal spell (One of the ones you can learn and cast at any time). Also, I've never actually had to teleport back to town. Use your pets inventory and send him off to sell all your junk when both are full.

Learning the spell doesn't really solve the problem, because now instead of having an otherwise useful inventory slot filled, you have an otherwise useful spell slot filled. Sooner or later, you need to go back to town to report to people who gave you a quest.
Unless pets can collect quest rewards now. If that's the case, they just need to remove the "unidentified item" element.
I got the game now and i have a question.
How do i send my pet to sell my stuff? I accidently skipped that tip thingy which popped up the first time my pets inventory was full

nevermind, found it

No they don't.
That doesn't mean they have to keep recycling so much of the games. I never played Mythos, but Hellgate was different... I just hear that it really sucked.
Even if they're taking elements from games they've made themselves, this one isn't automatically fresh and original.
Who cares?
Games are meant to be fun, not these super duper refreshing experiences
Just tried it, and the mob smashing was incredibly fun.
Demo was really fun, sat playing it for 2-3 hours.

Dual-wield two guns, or even dual-wield a gun and a sword.
Guns n swords for life

It's interesting,I love the style, adds to fantasy, but this whole dungeon thing...but then again, dungeons are best places to look for a loot and monsters,it feels like I'm playing "The Mole Simulator:Special Edition"

Well I'm not going to pay $20 for a game I already own.
Quick question, Is there any way to set the F keys to cast instead of just switching your right-click spells?
TorchED (the official editor) has been released!

I kind of like it from the demo, but it's reminding me of Dungeon Runners. I especially hated how even the most powerful items in that game never had anything more than 10% bonuses to damage.
I kind of like the whole 'Release SP now, finish it as an MMO later' strategy. It gives everyone a fair chance to get good loot.
This type of game makes for a great time-waster, gonna try the demo
As I suspected, it really is exactly like Fate, not that that is a bad thing, and the new additions such as the expanded item list, skills, graphics etc. are more than enough to make it stand out. Truly a fantastic game
Its worth 20$

Actually you can't transfer characters.

Probably the 2 stupidest replies in this thread.
Bought this a couple of days ago, it's definitely worth the money. At least in my opinion.
Hell, even the DEMO can get you at least 8 or 9 hours of play

Anybody else notice the Tristram vibe to all of the music?

...wait for it, wait for it...
Diablo composer and sound designer Matt Uelmen also joined the team, creating original music and sound for the game. Uelmen based his score on the pacing and context of the gameplay, which he observed even in very early playable builds of the game. For the "Torchlight" town theme, Uelmen incorporated some elements reminiscent of his iconic "Tristram" theme from Diablo, but also tried to give it a distinctly different sound.
So, I just retired my alchemist who was level 42 and of "legendary" fame. Is there any other bonus other than the heirloom sword you can carry over?
got my last pet as alchemist, and it feels like I'm playing mmo,me,1wolf/dog,6ximps,2x"so-called"golems,amazing game(haven't even tried this type of games before(diablo and others same type),maybe now I will even buy d3,but for now it's best 20$ I have spent!Truly a masterpiece,at least so far,at least from my point of view!

Imagine if this was readable without the need to decipher.
Damnit, I found a pretty good set item piece, and I thought, "Hey, a pretty good set item piece, I bet it could be even better with an enchantment or two" so I go to town to enchant it, and that bloody enchanter wipes all the stats on it even though the chance for disenchant was 2%. Didn't even have it for two minutes. :saddowns:
