My PC is crap, and replacing it with something gaming-caliber will run me a lot more than 300 dollars.
Hey guy, Sony's failure rates are about the same as Microsoft's look it up.
...no, no it's not.
I've owned 2 xbox 360s, both broke.
First one, it got 2 red rings, which I've heard means it's overheating and needs to cool for a little while. Well that's bullshit because I kept the thing off for days and whenever I would turn it on, it would play normally for 3 seconds then go back to 2 red rings. I looked and looked for a fix for this, everything I found was only for the 3 red rings. So I thought I might as well try that. I ordered the fucking supplies (tools, thermal paste, bolts) spent hours trying to fix the damn thing. When I finally thought it was fixed. Nothing changed. Waste of money.
Then a while later, I thought I might try playing xbox again. Ordered a used one, played good for awhile, then got a habit of eating some of my discs. I played the orange box a lot, because I was addicted to TF2, and I was saving up for a computer at the time as well. Ate my OB disc, bought another, Ate it too, but I hate to turn the xbox or something to get it to read it correctly. Then it finally crapped out and gave me a one ring, which is supposedly a hardware problem, like with the chords or something. No noticeable problems at all with any of that shit. So I thought fuck it, and bought a PC and I've got my shitbox sitting in my closet.
Which is a shame because I have a lot of games for it.
May I have the shitboxes?
Left mine standing up, no more than 15 feet away from my house's central A/C unit. On a wooden floor. Care to explain?
I'm not saying you are stupid, but generally the people in my area that this happens to is from what I said.
Microsoft doesn't fix the red ring of death for a reason, if people's xboxs keep breaking they have to buy new ones, meaning more money for Msoft.
Microsoft doesn't fix the red ring of death for a reason, if people's xboxs keep breaking they have to buy new ones, meaning more money for Msoft.
Or they charge $140 dollars for repair.
May I have the shitboxes?
working or not.
Why on earth would you want that? Spare parts? Repair profit?
What the hell are you saying, Diet Kane?
Haven't you seen all of those " PS3 HAS NO GAME! " jokes and comics? I'm pretty sure they're made for a reason, right?
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or joking or trolling, but the PS3 NO GAEM jokes were valid in 2006.
Why on earth would you want that? Spare parts? Repair profit?
I want to tinker with them to see if I can fix them. I managed to turn my neighbors 360 from a 3 ring to a 2 ring and then it worked.
Just buy the new xbox, that doesn't have RROD.
My XBOX is holding for more than 2 years. I had no failures, NONE.
The failure rate for the xbox is down a lot.
And the disc eating problem: don't move your console, and you'll have nice and dandy discs, but if all else fails, install them to your hard drive.
Get out of my mind!
if I were you my $300 would be going to my pc.
and while Sony is pulling some shit with you having to replace the PS3 controller entirely if or when it's battery dies completely,
Even then you can open the controller up and replace the battery, just requires a little logic, other than that your good as gold.
I've never had a disk get scratched, only time my 360 died was an E74 and if I remember right the dvd drive broke aswell.
And the disc eating problem: don't move your console, and you'll have nice and dandy discs, but if all else fails, install them to your hard drive.
It can happen without moving the console too.
I've never had a problem with my xbox ever since I bought it.
I have already a PS3 since the first week it came out, It never overheated only sometimes there will be a little lag in games such as GTA IV if you dont have enough space left. There are many games on the PS3 wich aint able even if it gets ported be able to run on XBOX. PS3 is better in my opinion. And dont forget the Blu-Ray Reader on it.
You can just run your movies and PS2 games on it. Theres only one problem, You need a television with HD on it. Or you cant connect your PS3.
Or they charge $140 dollars for repair.
Repair is free, unless you've been screwing around with it, trying to repair it.
I'd say get a Wii for the GameCube games or a PS3 for the PS2 games.
Fuck I still find myself playing last gen games more than current gen games.
On the Sony market you can buy Medievil(sic) for dirt cheap. It's a fucking great game.
Just put that $300 into a pc. Best decision you will ever make.
I've had my Xbox since December 2008, and I haven't experienced any of your problems.
5,000th post, yey.
Welcome to the club. I've been buying all non eclusives on the ps3 but every once in a while I buy them for 360. After the ps3 360 sucks.
I got the yellow light on my PS3 once, but I was under warranty and that was back in 07 or 08.
But I bought the fat 40GB for $400.
the 360 literally has no games except halo and crackdown. the ps3 on the other hand has lbp, mgs4, heavy rain, uncharted, demon's souls, and much more.
What seperates Sony from Microsoft is that Sony is more lenient...
Now, i'm not taking sides here. I own the Wii, xbox 360, and the PS3, so i'm neutral here.
But I would say Microsoft is only out there to take your money. The reason why Gabe is switching sides (Temporary, or permanant... THAT is the question) is because he's not able to release updates for the games. Take TF2 on the 360 for example, That will never be updated because Microsoft will only allow Gabe to put an update out if users have to pay for it.
Sony is WAY more laid back about this and is actually allowing gabe to integrate Steamworks with the PS3, which is due for a full release when Portal 2 comes out. This means that the pc version of the games will remain up to date, and the PS3 version will be brought up to speed. The 360 version is going to be left to rot though.
You know, after getting tired of the 360 and getting a PS3, I found that it has some pretty fucking awesome exclusives.
I finally was able to start playing Metal Gear Solid 4 (Which is downright epic in every way possible)
and Little Big Planet (Almost as epic).
and while Sony is pulling some shit with you having to replace the PS3 controller entirely if or when it's battery dies completely, it's nowhere near as bad as what Microsoft is pulling.
Again, i'm not taking sides here. I'm just talking about my experiences.
Sony didn't allow the Trine devs to release a major update for a long time. I'm not sure if it's out even now.
Plus they removed the ability to install Linux, one of the reasons I bought my PS3 in the first place.
They could release a software PS2 emulator for everyone, but they won't because then they couldn't sell PS2 games on the PSM for more than they're worth.
Just look at the PSP Go, they COULD let you download games you already own, but instead they make you pay for them again.
You need a television with HD on it. Or you cant connect your PS3.
what are you on about??
I have owned 2 xboxes, my first RROD'd, mainly cause I left it on days at a time so I wouldn't have to use save games in Oblivion (another culprit). I got a new one after that, it has not chomped a disk, it has not over heated once, and it has been running for 3 years now, not a problem in sight.
take care of your xbox and these problems won't occur.
