I agree with OP. It was basically the original reason I went for a PS3 versus a 360, and honestly at the moment the 360 seems to be winding down games-wise, while the Ps3 is flourishing.
You know it's going downhill when the company charges $150 for...a camera.

It's overpriced(Along with the games and all other accessories) because they sell the consoles at a pretty large loss and make their profits from selling games and accessories.
That's why PC games are cheaper.
Trust me, I wish I had the technical knowledge to build my own PC.
It's the XBox. It sucks.
Microsoft doesn't fix the red ring of death for a reason, if people's xboxs keep breaking they have to buy new ones, meaning more money for Msoft.
no, they lose customers that way. only the earlier 360's got red rings constantly.
if your going to use your $300 for sony, you might as well try out the new 360 first. it has a better cooling system, wireless connection to xbox live (using something called kinect i believe) and is worth $300.
remember that you are sacrificing great controllers and great games for blue ray, a few decent games and shitty controllers.
also, if you do buy a ps3, get some sports games 'cuz thats what its made for.

actually buy a gaming pc. better than both systems combined, i just cant afford one atm.

I can't count the many bits of stupidity in this post.
The new 360 still overheats, except this time it shuts itself off instead of RRoD'ing. The PS3 controllers are just fine. "A few decent games"? Most of the games you can get on 360 you can also get on PS3. 360 has no fucking exclusives besides Halo and Gears of War.
Face it xbro, 360 has no games.
ps3 is better
I think it's personal opinion as to software, but hardware-wise, the xbox is just a steaming pile of wall shit.
After I fix up my 360 I'm probably going to sell most of my games. Only I'd most likely buy would buy after that would be GoW3,Metal Gear: Rising and a few other hard hits.

I have the new 360, and it hasn't ever shut down because of overheating, even during my loooong sessions of ME2.

What.
And the Ps3 is also 300$.
What is with this XBOX HAS NO GAMES LOL thing. That's never been the case.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Xbox_360-only_games
205 xbox only games, that hardly seems like nothing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:PlayStation_3-only_games
173 ps3 only games.
Both consoles have plenty of exclusives, so shut the fuck up about them.

Someone didn't watch E3.
Wow, kids rage hard when someone takes a shot at their preferred console.
As a PS3 owner and operator, I'm obviously going to side with Sony in this argument, but not without a good amount of knowledge of the opposition.
In truth, the best console is the one that you have to most reason to buy.
This can be evaluated with pros and cons.
Whichever system has more games is completely irrelevant, because we all know that having more games doesn't mean that they'll be good *coughModernWarfare2cough*
The PS3 and Xbox both have a fair share of good exclusives, although from what I've seen over time and especially what i've seen recently, the PS3 will be taking the lead in quality exclusives. I'm open to being proven wrong.
The Xbox still has the disc-shredding problem, both when moving the system and when sitting entirely still, but the blame should not fall on the operator. Take a completely random circumstance while you were playing your Xbox like an earthquake or something that knocks your Xbox over. It was not at all your fault, but should you have to fork out another 60 bucks to get the game again because of a shitty design flaw that would have cost 25 cents to fix?
It's all about the little things. Currently (and I stress CURRENTLY) the PS3 is taking the lead as far as consoles go.
PC gaming is still a sound investment, but since you made it clear that your PC is not worth improving, I hope you enjoy your new PS3 purchase.
I knew this thread wouldn't end well. Some fanboys had to come in here and start something about the "PS3 HAZ N0 GAMEZ LOL". The console has plenty of great games, it just boils down to which games you prefer.
I enjoy my 360 enough not to buy a PS3, but they're both great systems.
Am I the only one who rarely finds annoying people on the 360?
Lucky you.
I don't understand why there's so much inter-console hate. Leave each to their own, maybe?
I don't give a shit which one has more stuff I like my Xbox better. Although I do wish Heavy Rain was on Xbox, that game is awesome.
I guess I'm weird for not liking 360 exclusives...
The biggest reason I'd hate giving up a 360 is the controller. It's a perfect ergonomic design, nothing in gaming history beats it. On the other hand, while there are a few interesting elements to the dual-shock controller, the PS3 wireless version is flimsy as shit with delicate buttons, and...well, you don't know discomfort until you have to contort your hand to play Split/Second on the damn thing. Those analog triggers are horribly, horribly placed.
Everything else about the PS3 is pretty dandy, though.
I have a ps2 and a wii and that's really all I need. MGS2 and 3 will keep me occupied for ages, and Shadow of the Colossus is definitely the best game ever made so that's definately enjoyable for every second. Plus on the wii I get Metroid Prime 1 2 &3, all of those N64 games and sweet homebrew. Not really worth the price tag, but if I got it, i'm gonna enjoy it.
It helps when I bought my Ps2 for the grand price of one (1) american US dollar, too.

You kidding me?
I bought an xbox controller for my PC because I knew it would work flawlessly, and the only controllers I had played were heavily used so I assumed that the jiggly and flimsy problems were from that.
The xbox controller feels like shitty plastic, the analog sticks have a deadzone the size of fucking texas and the shoulder buttons SHIP with problems. And the buttons are just boring buttons.
But the Ps3 controller feels tight. It feels like a well-built piece of electronics. No deadzone on the analog, no wobble on the analog, and all of the buttons don't wobble around. Not to mention that to be wireless it doesn't stick some fucking AA batteries on the back. Oh, and every single button on the console is analog. They're all pressure sensitive. And I do admit the triggers need work, but they still work and only are a problem if you're sweaty and gripping the controller.
My PS3 is currently a worthless brick. I refuse to update because Sony removed OtherOS, which means I can't do ANYTHING. No single player games, no buying stuff from the store, I can't even update the clock. The only thing that still works is the web browser and OtherOS.
Thanks Sony for removing a major feature of your console because it could be exploited by a select few. Fuck everyone over in the process. GJ

Not every button. :v: PS, Start, Select, L3 and R3 are the only digital buttons on the controller.

What's the difference between digital and touch-sensitive?
In other news, still no PS3.
I've had 4 360s. 3 of them broke, and we sold the other one. And trust me, we took very good care of them.
But honestly, it doesn't bother me at all. I have a pretty good gaming PC and a Wii, so the only games I'm missing out on are PS3 games. I'm looking to get a PS3 in the near future, so I'll be set.
No need to worry about fucking stupid subscription fees for playing online, paying for small extras to games, etc.

No single player games? I didn't update my PS3 for a while, and I could still play Single Player games, it would still allow me to download updates for games. I just couldn't go online. And yeah, I wish they didn't remove the entire feature.
My 360 ate Nico Bellic :/
RIP
My 360 died too. I sent it in to Microsoft and they fixed it for me. Two days later it RROD'd again, So I decided to throw it my 5th story apartment. Good times.
it bugs me how no one communicates in every game compared to the 360
I played the PS3 and I didn't hear barely anyone with a microphone, but on my 360 there is always communication, or some kid yelling at his mom. I guess not having to hear kids screaming through their mics is an up though. Honestly it felt much better to actually hear people at all, or it just feels like I'm playing with bots.
I stuck with the 360 due to the fact that I played Xbox Live on my Original Xbox all the time. After my Xbox got dusty I decided to try a PS2, I immediately got bored of it and then the 360 was released, I played it all the time. I just like to stick with my roots on consoles. I don't do much console gaming anymore though. I will need to upgrade my PC soon.
