I've been reading a lot of "this mod has borrowed/used/ripped things from other games" comments and it's starting to get on my nerves.
So could anyone please explain to me what was based on another game here expect of the:

Girl is hunting you - yeah I'm a big fan of F.E.A.R but it's just the general idea, it's like saying Dead Space is coping Doom 3 because you use guns to fight aliens in both of them in the dark. I could also say the same thing about F.E.A.R coping from The Ring as well.

Girl in front of the elevator in the ending of level 1 - This is the only part which I admit "borrowed" from F.E.A.R but only because it was awesome.

Announcer - yeah I'm a big fan of Penumbra and it indeed served as inspiration, but again, only in general. Many games have announcement systems.

The hall with the bloody ceiling - Yeah again, took inspiration from F.E.A.R but the only similarity in this part is the visuals.

Armored zombie - L4D2? for my defense I can say we've made it before L4D2 even came out.

Shadow people - Yep inspiration from Metro 2030, it was awesome, but that's why I kept that part short and never made it a big part of the mod.

Mannequins - It's just a very short part serving as a homage to the very short part from the awesome Condemned, that's it.

Good guy turns out to be the bad guy? - Come on, this was made long before Bioshock, I didn't even thought about Bioshock while making it.
I can't think about anything else that I've made that wasn't original, maybe there are more and I do not know about them, you are welcome to show me.
Yeah people just really like to compare games to other games, it's one of those things. Hell people compared dead space to bioshock and I have no idea how they managed that. I think it's because the horror genre is so scarcely populated, people are so ready to draw parallels.
The idea of being stalked by inanimate objects can't be "claimed" by anyone (and mannequins aren't patented either, they're such great uncanny valley material), nor can a creepy ghost girl antagonist, or a disembodied omniscient voice. The shadow people for instance may be metro 2033 inspired but metro didn't invent them, shadow people have been a part of ghost folklore decades. It's what you do with the concept that makes it original, and I've never seen anything done like nightmare house 2 did them.
I freaked out when the automated system said, (something like)
"I need to tell you something..."
I was like, "okay" but nothing happened and when I hit the trigger and she said "there's something behind you"
I turn round and killed the zombie, that wasn't the thing that scared me though it was just the thought that she was almost sentient.
Also
"DON'T LOOK BEHIND YOU"
"DON'T LOOK BEHIND YOU"
"DON'T LOOK BEHIND YOU"
"DON'T LOOK BEHIND YOU"
That freaked me out A LOT, I just pegged it out of there as quick as I could.
Again where you're in that corridor that's getting gradually smaller, I saw a comment that said "Don't look up" and a reply that uttered the words "I shat a foot long brick".
Needless to say I didn't know when exactly that scene was so I dared myself to look up.
Pants? well there was a backing to them before that scene.
I played through it on one sitting, the beggining parts were scary as fuck, but as it went on it started to become less scary, but still this mod kept me intersted enough to play through it, so its a lot better than other mods out there.
Part 7 uploaded, thus ends the Let's Play of Nightmare House 2.

Awesome, was looking for part 7.
Awesome, was looking for part 7.
Took a while to upload, it paused on 99% processed and I thought it had cancelled, left it for half an hour, came back and it was done.
I played through the [sp]mannequins area a while ago, fucking hell that was creepy. Weeping angels much?[/sp] But now I'm stuck at the area where [sp]you go through the dark storage area with three SWAT team members, and the skinny fast zombies attack you. Got through it, got to the door, but only two members remained. I tried to open it but it said "Let's wait for the rest of the team" or something similar. It still showed three members left in the lower right corner, I went all the way back but didn't find the third guy.[/sp] What do I do?

I ran the entire way, didn't lost anyone, I think Hen said it was a bug or something in the last few pages.

HL2 AI is meh, I did all I could, try to go back, one of the soldiers is probably stuck somewhere and you can go and push him until he's out.
Seriously if Valve wants to make Episode 3 scary Gabe should hire these guys, amazing work.
Am I the only one who liked the SWAT guys and the intercom voice ? [sp] I was sad when I found out that all of them died [/sp]
After beating the mod (which was most certainly the best single-player mod I've ever played) I thought for a second and realized... it feels like this little mod team was more creative with the engine than Valve has been. Seriously, some of the effects (the [sp]enclosing room and FUCKING SCARY AIR DUCT which creeped the fuck out of me[/sp] come to mind) seemed like something I'd never see in the Source engine.
I like how during the boss fight the scientist give a comment on everything you attempt to do, successful or not.
Just finished it. That was fucking awesome. Best HL2 singleplayer mod I've ever played.
[editline]02:40PM[/editline]
Now I'm sad that it ended.
Well yeah I talked about it in my post.
@Max of S2D, there are these slaps, text, static, her voice, psst sound, flashlight, and a few other things.
Everytime I heard the voice I thought that she had showed up somewhere close to me and that I missed it :v:
If black mesa source is as "good" as they say it is. This mod will definetly be a good contender in MOTY. I actually hope this mod wins.
How good is this mod? People seem pretty excited about it.

Easily the best HL2 singleplayer mod to date.
If that flashlight flickering was random, it proves random systems hate me. It flicker at the worst times, always. And I never got the caption spam, either.

I'm pretty sure the constant flickering occurring when you had to crawl through the tight maintenance space with the water and steam was not random.

Oh thank god. My luck isn't as bad as I thought.
I can't sleep tonight.
Fuck.
THE WALLS ARE CLOSING IN.
Look up and you'll find salvation.

That part was amazing.

Just gonna post this here, not many people are going to the easter egg thread.
"I think there's an air vent behind the third washing machine."
Okie doke, I'll be there in no time.
*break open the vent cover, crouch inside*
BAM a fucking dead body gets pushed right in your face.

Looks like Dr. Romero was wrong.
For the people that don't know Nightmare House 1 is included in this, I didn't realise but I've actually already complete the first game (it was that long ago) it was darn brilliant in this it's the prologue that you play before the game starts, it's actually remade though so its alot higher quality.

My flashlight died at the end of that part and I missed seeing her.
I am just having too much fun with NH2 and captions:

The mannequins part was my favorite, ever.
