I just beat it, and I must say it's easily the best modding I've ever seen. One thing that impressed me a lot was [sp]the hallway that gets smaller as you walk to either end, and the vent that does the same thing[/sp]. The whole part with [sp]the mannequins[/sp] was brilliant as well. The last level really didn't scare me at all. [sp]Once an explanation was given for the scariness, it ceased to be scary to me[/sp]. Also, throughout the whole thing, I expected [sp]the SWAT guys to not be real. As it turns out, they were[/sp]. Somehow, when it's anchored in reality, it loses the surreal feeling of being alone with no hope of escape. That said, it was a downright amazing mod, and I hope to see more from the team in the future!
What the hell do I do during the boss battle.
What the hell do I do during the boss battle.
[sp]Turn off the generator in the corner, then start chopping the wood on the machine with your axe.[/sp]
Thanks alot!

I disagree.
[sp]The ending gave me some closure and peace of mind[/sp] :unsmith:
Except for [sp]Looking up and seeing that scary bitch, why the fuck is 'dat bitch so creepy[/sp]
Also SWAT members :smith:
I was stuck in that tiny room for about 5 minutes before I looked up.
Bricks. Bricks everywhere.

Looks like Dr. Romero was wrong.
I fucking cracked up when he said "This is so entertaining, god I wish I had popcorn" and "Are you having fun?"
Just a few Q's regarding the story:
It there any details given on why [sp]Emily is pissed at Romero? He has been working on the mind-control device his entire life and mentions "past mistakes" in his log while also discussing "her" (Emily). The scene in the morgue shows her lying on the autopsy table, and the notes on Romero's notice board has drawings depicting eyes progressively blackening, clearly resembling Emily's ghost. I guess it's quite clear he abused her for his experiments somehow, but is there any details that I missed hinting at what happened during the time between the couple purchasing the (later-to-become-nightmare) house and the hospital disaster[/sp]?
To be honest, the only part what REALLY scared me was [sp] when you look up on that room with no exits and you see emily staring at you and bam [/sp] that made me shit my pants, other scares were mostly whoaaa and sudden shocks.
Also, am I the only one who wondered [sp] what happens with the main character at end ? we see that he is injured from the explosion and emily literally kicking Dr. Romeros ass but other than that we are left in the dark [/sp]
I was spawning vortigaunts through the whole game

My guess is [sp]Romero was watching Emily suffering in the hospital, and he couldn't take it. So he killed her. Then, he felt bad that he did that, so he tried to bring her back with the mind machine, but his machine backfired and caused all of this zombie shit.("I never intentionally killed someone" could be a lie)[/sp]

Maybe [sp]He was her doctor? And he couldn't save her? Oe he was so caught up in his work she died and he didn't realize until it was too late? Or even better, the first test of the Core backfired and killed her. That would explain her powers.[/sp]

Hmm, Romero's line [sp]"Emily? Emily, my love, it worked! You're back! I'm sorry etc" sort of suggest this, but at the same time he explains to the player that "Every ideological civilization in the history of the world has tried to control the human mind... ...I will succeed, in less than one lifetime" which suggests he has world domination (or something along those lines) as goal. If the goal of the experiment was to get Emily back I don't see why he would have been scared to death of her (or so keen on keeping her away via his machine). Also, his exclamation "OH SHIT" when she finally appears in front of him suggests he isn't happy to see her at all and dishonestly pretends to have tried to bring her back.
I don't see much hinting at Emily being hospitalized for conditions unrelated to Romero's experiment (correct me if I'm wrong), but if she was subjected to (and killed by) his early mind-control experiments that would explain both why she is pissed with him (DAT BETRAYAL) and why she shows the player things like the morgue scene. If killing Emily was an accident caused by a wrong-gone experiment rather than homicide then he would truly not have killed anyone intentionally, thus he doesn't need to lie. The zombies roaming the hospital are probably more victims of the mind-control experiments, like you say.[/sp]

Romero and [sp]Emily were husband and wife (or partners at the very least). If you look around his lab you can see photos of them standing infront of their newly-bought mansion - The house that later becomes the Nightmare House after Emily deceases and Romero moves into the basement of the hospital.[/sp]
I'm scared of playing this.

Do it. You're missing out on a great mod.

You haven't lived life until you play this mod.
Fact.
Just finished this mod about an hour ago, easily the best mod I've played in some time

I just thought Romero was a [sp]fucking sociopath crazy mad scientist. He killed Emily in cold blood and fled to the hospital basement where he could hide from police and continue his malevolent plan for, basically, world domination through mind control. You were the first one to enter Emily and Romero's old house since her murder, where Emily's ghost was trapped, so she used you as a vessel to escape the house. The ambulance that came for you was a pawn of Romero's, to investigate the man who may have stumbled upon the skeletons in his closet. What he finds though is that you're different because you don't succumb to his mind control. The 1st person hospital bed was a reference to Romero studying you to find out why you hadn't been zombified like the rest, when it was Emily, still inside your head, that kept you safe. Romero found this out and was terrified that his wife's ghost was hunting him. But as long as Romero's mind control was functioning, Emily remained trapped in your head. When you destroyed it she was able to enter the physical world and get revenge. [/sp] Or, that's what I think.

I know it's an awesome mod, and the developers definitely did a good job, but I got scared seeing a poster of Freddy and seeing the beginning of the Runaway Brain Mickey cartoon.
I'm scared I'll shit myself and not laugh after it like most people do.
[editline]10:30PM[/editline]
I would totally play it if I could record the audio or the video or something, and have my reactions, or even have someone to play with.
I played this mod on a straight play through non-stop. I had to break out my Duke Nukem voice to cheer myself up when it got really spooky.
Also, with the
DON'T TURN AROUND
DON'T TURN AROUND
DON'T TURN AROUND
DON'T TURN AROUND
DON'T TURN AROUND
events, nothing happens when you turn around
In my entire play through I didn't get the Don't turn around caption...
It's part of the random scare system. Sometimes you'll get it, sometimes you won't.
By God, I just finished it. Holy hell, how are you not charging for this? This was up there with portal in my books. I loved how you actually gave the story a viable but original plot. Some tweaks in voice acting are needed a little [sp] When the final swat guy dies he sounds like he's just falling asleep instead of dying, he didnt even let out a sigh or a last breath[/sp] But overall I loved it.

How was the zombies explained?
So why is it called Nightmare House 2.
I'm only near the end of chapter 2.... but I've constantly hearing "PSSST" just randomly, is it only me? Because it's pissing me off now. :P
So why is it called Nightmare House 2.
Have you finished it?
Just finished it. Low production values and annoying default NPCs slightly break the immersion.
Also, is Nightmare House 1 related to the Prologue, or is it just a shortened version?
The prologue is a remade version of Nightmare House 1. It is about as long as the original as well.
i liked the part with the fire
fine mod up there with the best
