Wasted so many bullets when the lady would appear and then disappear.
[sp]Was totally unexpecting her to be there when I look up in the shrinking room[/sp]
You tried to shoot her? You monster!
[sp]She is the real victim...[/sp]
Jesus christ I just finished this today, fucking amazing mod. I'm pretty much speechless knowing all the effort put into one mod. This is official game quality.
Make episodes.
ooooh.... i installed it. i cant get past the prolouge im way too scared...
its like, i see the girl that hanged herself, she dissapears, i try the door, i turn around and BLAM! the girl is sitting there...
Just finished the game. Gonna put my opinions in spoiler tags:
[sp]The game was pretty awesome, however I think towards the end with the SWAT team, it turned into a lot less horror, and alot more killing zombies in dark. I really loved the shrinking room, it was a great idea. I can't believe Hen put so many easter eggs into the game, I didn't even find one. It did keep me entertained for about 4-5 hours, so I'm pretty satisfied. The ending was really good, however not too difficult.[/sp]

Breaking a game up into sections of different themes is important to make the game feel varied and interesting. If would all have been tension and scare all the way through it would've felt boring after a while. The [sp]zombie combat involving the SWAT[/sp] was an excellent method of varying the pace of the game. However I do agree on that [sp]the ending combat could have been a little more intense in itself; when Romero said "Here comes round two motherfucker" I was sort of expecting a new, more powerful enemy to appear[/sp].
The whole swat thing was so cool, i mean i know its cliche and easy to do but it REALLY got me inspired to do something like that, ive been fooling around and i got a cool sounding swat like radio thing. Its gonna be implemented in a map im making. NH2 inspired me to map again, and i haven't mapped in months. All in all Awesome mod, i haven't beat it yet im shit scared, but hey i will eventually.
I can play it at day, but not at night. I wonder why...
[editline]04:17PM[/editline]
Going to record myself playing. At least that`ll help a bit.
[sp]The mannequins[/sp] made me shit myself.
The mannequins reminded me of COndemned: Criminal Origins.
And also, in the end i didn't realize what to do.
I ended up killing fagsties for around 2 hours, picking up crates of health and shotgun shells until i was like:
"Oh look there's some boards."
Goddamnit.

I guess you're right. I don't know why I didn't realize that when writing it.
On a side note, the soundtrack/background music is fucking great. I hope there's a full version of "Emily". Koolfox is awesome.
Definitely one of the best mods I've ever played and certainly the best horror experience in recent memory.
Best part in my opinion was[sp]when you're going over to the SWAT member behind the glass and suddenly there's a mannequin there instead.[/sp]
Otherwise most of the mannequin part was a bit too inspired by Condemned: Criminal Origins.
A few moments were way too predictable, like [sp]the SWAT member getting dragged away from under the gate[/sp] + a few corpses I knew would reanimate.
"[sp]I guess all the days of playing Doom really payed off.[/sp]" :v:
I really love some of the classic horror concepts they put into it when creating it. They really outdid themselves with this mod, I wish they still had interest in making more, I'd love to see a co-op Nightmare House.
I wish I could erase the memory of me playing it so I can play it again.
This, a hundred times this.
I wish I could erase the memory of me playing it so I can play it again.
1x Agree.
Played it twice now, I hope I have forgotten the scares in 6 months so I can re-live the awesomeness again. Never before has a game kept me sweating and shivering for 4 hours straight.

-Old post, ignore it-

Oh comeon it wasn't that scary.
Of course, it had it's scares, but i don't know if it was just me...
[sp]Seriously, i always continued just to get the next glimpse of Emily. The last scene where he trashes Romero's corpse around was awesome, i cheered on my seat as his body was ripped apart. Then when the camera closed in, i almost came. I think i took this game from a wrong perspective. Good game nonetheless.[/sp]
Oh yeah, and [sp]Did anyone else just know Emily wasn't the evil one here? I don't know why, i just knew that she wasn't bad when she appeared first.[/sp]
I'm using a lot of spoiler tags, but that's because i don't want to spoil this FUCKING AWESOME MOD for those who haven't played it yet.

Check the date of that post. 2008.
The mannequins were my favorite part.

So true, it's not even funny
It sucks that Hen isn't going to do anything else on the Source engine.. Now how will I see new releases from this team?
This..game..is..BRILLIANT! I fuckin loved it. I still want to kill that asshole myself, but oh well. You can't have everything, right? ;D
Okay guys I have played game such as silent hill,condemned,F.E.A.R but god damn this mod was scarier than all.[sp]when the hallway was getting smaller and smaller and I looked up and saw the girl I was scared so badly my heart was beating like a bitch.[/sp]
-Er... never mind-
Oh comeon it wasn't that scary.

Guess the basic human instinct of fear cannot overpower the good ol' sexual instinct :pervert:
I remained in doubt over who was good and evil (or for that matter, who was real and who was imaginary) until the final game chapter. I think I can thank the mod's description for that, in addition to the fact that still remember the details of the original Nightmare House mappack (there was no [sp]hawt girl[/sp], just a creepy HL2 stalker) which had an entirely different disposition.
That was a great mod one of the few things that actually scared me and wasn't so predictable.
I need EP2 to play? Damn.
Oh my god, [sp] the room with the mannequins [/sp] scared the shit out of me
I've been watching MaxOfS2D's videos of this and I can honestly say I'm impressed, this is one of the few mods that doesn't have shit voice acting or a terrible plot.
However I'm waiting to play this in a co-op though with a friend so it will be double the fun.
