Dammit, all these comments saying how great this mod is, yet I don't have EP2. :/
While the mod was good, I don't like how it got considerably less scary through the second half of the game and favored more action-y shoot 'em up. (This is approx. when you meet the Swat members and from then on.)
First half had some really good moments, but from about the chapter Dead Signal it stopped being scary and turned into a dark shooter...lame.

I still liked the action though, don't get me wrong, it was a good mod...just..it felt out of place.
I thought it was a nice change of pace.
5 people saying they didn't like the swat is a lot nicer than 500 people saying the mod was boring and repetitive. Like most things in game design, it was a trade off.
I think that change really made the game better, at least for me. Until that point where you meet the swat team, you are psychologically scared because you are alone. The change of the music and the feeling that there are others that can help you, really give you hope that you might actually make it alive. You feel a lot safer, until the point where you get separated again and some good scares happen. I believe that the transition between fear and action is really nice and It made the experience better. As a whole it felt like an actual game I would pay for.

Problem is, the shrinking room is repeated way too often. Overall that's probably the main problem with it. Most of the stuff works once, though is predictable, but it keeps getting repeated over and over again.
Another somewhat annoying parts were the unavoidable damage that you received no matter what.
My favourite part was probably - may we have a moment of your time...to tell you there is something behind you.

At the beginning, first level in the hospital, did Emily close the gate on purpose to prevent you from being killed by that "dead" armoured zombie sitting on that chair?
Because when you head back to the gate, the armoured zombie isn't there anymore.
Anyone else thinks that a Nightmare House Wikia would be a good idea?
This is probably late but I heard this game has a dynamic scare generator, in that it has a certain chance to show you certain scares so don't think you have it all worked out on a 2nd playthrough or something will suprise the crap out of you.
Anyway these guys are likely going to get hired, but I'm suprised, has Valve not said anything about this mod? It would be something they usually would do because this mod is the best Single-Player HL2 mod as of now.

maybe im just being in grateful but the story and the way the mod played its self out was too good.
Like the only other game that had me feeling this way was metro 2033. So good yet so short.
I was actually kinda disappointed by this mod.
But in a half-good way, because the first half of the mod had such awesome atmosphere and was so masterfully crafted and had such well made level design, but the second half quickly succumbed to being just an action game with the lights turned off. As soon as the SWAT came in and you got an SMG, along with the action packed climax boss battle, I began enjoying it a lot less.
I guess I was just disappointed that you guys didn't keep up the whole atmosphere of loneliness and despair in an environment that passive aggressively dicks with you and replaced it with more action focused shooting gameplay.
Oh comeon, i actually thought the whole game was awesome.
When you got the SMG it just meant you could spam bullets.
IMO the shotgun was way too overpowered, it's alt fire killed the fagsties 20 meters away.
And while the climax was cool, i thought it'd be something else. Like Romero getting some super-cool mind-control powers and fucking spamming you with monsters while shooting you and moving around at super-speed, and you'd have to figure out with various clues where he actually was.
It's possible to trap yourself on the first level.
All you have to do is take the metal bed frame after you open the gate. Then just stick it in the gate and when you get the axe, just come back and jump over the bed frame and move it out of the way.
Don't know why you'd want to do this though...

Yeah, It all works awesome as an action game, but as a horror game (the elements of which really made this mod outstanding, as opposed to whiz bang shooty fun of every other other source mod fame), it really all felt out of place.
It's one of the best source mods of all time, don't get me wrong. I'm just making slight critiques at this point.

I don't think it'd work out too well. The zombies wouldn't be the same and there'd probably be a lot of bugs.
But if you want to try it out, I guess all you'd have to do is copy and paste the models, materials, and maps folder to Gmod.
Played through NH2 for the first time last night. It was fucking amazing. EXCELLENT MOD.
Is this game scary? And does it pull cheap tricks on you like screamers? I'm okay with eerie atmospheres and stuff like that, but screamers annoy me.

No, it doesn't pull screamer shit, just scary atmosphere.

It's kind of full of screamers (Without the noise usually), and quite a lot of them are obvious screamer spots.

Also, there are no screamers. You just have to keep your eyes wide open, and whatever you do. Don't blink. You might miss something.
I've played through it about 3 times and each time I noticed something that I didn't see before.
Anyone want to make a custom Add-on for Nightmare House 2 Content?
I've tried copying and pasting everything into my Gmod...
Also, I've tried putting just the maps and some of the main Materials and models, and not to mention sounds and scenes into Gmod. Even tried writing my own info.txt for a custom Add-on into my Addons directory. Is there something I missed, or need to do?
