I never played FEAR. This mod was amazing. I will admit, it turned a tad dull after meeting the SWAT, but in that short time with the SWAT, I become so attatched to them that I was sad when they died.
Bravo.
Parts with swat team didn't have the same atmosphere I think. I felt that just because I had 2-4 swat members behind me I was invincible. When they were gone the atmosphere returned.

I didn't. I honestly thought they were all a bunch of crazy mother fuckers who were worse than the ghost chasing me.
You're kidding me? It lost atmosphere once you met the SWAT.
Actually, it only upped the atmosphere tenfold when you had to leave them behind and go do something yourself.

Also, I loved the announcer, especially in the later chapters.
"We would like to take a minute of your time to notify you...
There is something behind you."

"It's for your own good."
I love how the yellow SWAT guy can say "Hey, thanks nice lady." When the announcer opens that garage door.
How do you beat the boss, I don't know what to do. All he does is just keeps mind raping me.

[sp]In one of the corners is a generator, turn the handle there. He'll turn on the pulse emitters, disabling the shield. Go to the supports and beat up on the boards holding them up.[/sp]
Absolutely fantastic experience. The atmosphere was extremely well done, and succeeded in being creepy and eerie. The scares/surprises in the game were also very well set up, as they were enjoyable, well-thought out, and not cheap such as resorting to screamers.
I really hope he does reveal the developer material, as well as release commentary, as I would really like to know how he came up with this genius work. Also, the prologue was pretty great. I would love it if the developer released another map similar to the prologue as a bonus. Exploring a haunted house just felt much more fun than an abandoned hospital.

The prologue was just a shortened version of the nightmare house remake :v:
Just finished this, it was goddamn amazing. Better than any HL2 game. Terrific overall design, quite frightening at times. Although the part with the SWAT team could have been done better. I wasn't as scary. In a nutshell, must-download mod, absolutely amazing.

I tought you got inspiration from the shadow people.
That part really made me see them in real life, I'm desperately afraid of shadow people.
[editline]07:06PM[/editline]
also it was extremely similiar to a story I once wrote for some game also set in hospital filled with zombies and stupid powerful MRI's and air duckts.
I am as well. It was the only part in the game that I truly hated, as shadows & movement of them or really anything related to them creeps me out. Watching the Doctor Who episode "Silence in the Library" didn't help either.
:tinfoil:
I got stuck in the Epilogue. Didn't know how to get into the house! So I jumped to Chapter 1.
Spooky game, I must admit.

Look to the left of the front doors, you should see a cellar.
Bust the lock with the axe from the shed.
:downs:
Oh god the ending... :ohdear:
i have problems running this game, first it took a WHILE to load the menu, now it crashes when i want to load the first chapter WTF
edit: well shit looks like i need to install hl2:ep2

I liked the ending, it was nice when [sp]Emily said thank you and smiled at you[/sp] you didn't [sp]Go out of the hospital did you?[/sp]
The ending is deliberately ambiguous and open.
Personally, I didn't find this so scary. It was mostly just startling moments that make most people paranoid about when it's gonna happen again, which has already been overdone in many horror games. The level design was very nice, though.

Like Inception.
Lot of inspiration from Penumbra and FEAR series. Also Doctor Who stuff is present here.
Really great mod. Loved the parts with the SWAT team, especially during the scenes where I got apart from them.
The splitting up line from the SWAT guy made me laugh SO MUCH.

yeah thanks to you i need to use the eadphones at 0,1% volume because the music creeps me out.
its a good thing
I just tried it out (finished it) today.
Great game, great story, not too scary.
The only thing I felt as I played through this was "wtf?", I wtf?'d for two hours straight as I played through the game.. also when I got hit on the back was a neat trick to make me look back.
good job, but you could've done a better job at making it scary.
also I didn't play the first two NH2.. but I think they are in the prologue
The first Nightmare House is just the original map pack that started the whole deal. It's rather low in quality (no mod, no custom content, low-average mapping and aesthetics standard) so there is no reason to even try it when the NH2 prologue is a shorter, good-quality remake of the same thing.
