Isn't this supposed to be due to inflation? Games have been about 50$ for as long as I can remember, but 50$ ten years ago isn't 50$ now...
This.
probably what's causing all that DRM and profit loss for companies yeah it's "good"
You're wrong. Studies have shown that the used console game market damages profit more than piracy. Companies just are trying to make a point.
Get yourselves a job and you can get these games after what, 2 days work? Jesus.
And this is why i torrent stuff you should too. Dont ban me for warez (User was banned for this post ("Warez" - SteveUK))
Get yourselves a job and you can get these games after what, 2 days work? Jesus.
It doesn't matter if you have a job and make 150k a year or if you live off mowing lawns, it's not that people don't have the money, it's because it's higher than it should be. Ask Bill Gates if he wants to buy a normal lollipop for 2500$, he has enough money to buy millions of them, but he still would refuse.
It's a bullshit price for consoles too, there is no reason they should charge that much. [editline]03:08PM[/editline] But you know, spending thousands of dollars to sit on your ass and stare at a screen is fine too.

Looks like torrenting will be the new trend if this keeps going up
I whole heartedly agree, one of the reasons why I got into PC gaming is because it was, generally, cheaper then console gaming. But then Activision pulled the shit with MW2 and other companies noticed that even though it was $60 it was still selling like hot cakes, so they figured their games will too.
then wait for the game to go on sale if you don't want to pay that much
You mean when they've already released the sequel? [editline]07:41PM[/editline] And keep the price up through a steady flow of expensive DLC?
Prices for games in the UK are very good. Especially at play.com. If you pre-order there you usually get £10 off, so that's £25 or $40. Also you get awesome deals like this: Fuck yeah the UK is good at something.
You mean when they've already released the sequel? [editline]07:41PM[/editline] And keep the price up through a steady flow of expensive DLC?
don't buy the sequel until it goes on sale, don't buy the dlc if you don't want it holy shit that was difficult
Honestly when was the last time you bought a new pc game? Considering the frequency of the awesome Steam sales, I generally wait a few months before I buy anything. Last thing I bought (which was a mistake) was BC2 at release. Before that? The orange box on release. everything in between was bought during sales, it saves an extraordinary amount of money and on great games.
last thing I got on release was HeartGold. before that: Doom 3. I usually wait until shit gets cheap
don't buy the sequel until it goes on sale, don't buy the dlc if you don't want it holy shit that was difficult
too bad that in this day and age DLC is becoming compulsory to be able to play online without disconnecting every map change.
I prefer expansion packs to DLC.
i don't, expansion packs usually suck if i can pay less money and get the content that's actually good, it would be much better i still regret buying Quake 3: Team Arena
MW2 costs 59,99€ for me on Steam.
It's a bullshit price for consoles too, there is no reason they should charge that much.
I've tried doing calcs on the value of $50 USD in 2000 twice now on government data, and they've both come up over $60. Unless you'd like to show us some different math using another currency (I'd say "or another data set" but the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics agrees with me and most independent data sets shoot significantly higher), you might want to recant that.

Oh, on another way. I got MW2 preorder for 32 dollars. Best price for any goddamn game.
I think the only 60 dollar game is cod, there may be more though.
You guys need to stop whining. Here, a brand new PC game costs 550DKK in the local game shops, which is $96
You're wrong. Studies have shown that the used console game market damages profit more than piracy. Why do people happily buy mediocre console games for $60 and at the same time refuse to buy great games like Starcraft 2 for $60, just because its for PC?
Supply and Demand good sir. I assume PC game sales have risen, or wait price and demand. its 3:00 A.M. Im trying to say that its economics at work i guess. :science:
I miss when games were $19.95 :/
If only games where like Minecraft. Super cheap, super fun, free updates.
You guys need to stop whining. Here, a brand new PC game costs 550DKK in the local game shops, which is $96
Holy shit. :suicide:
Why do people happily buy mediocre console games for $60 and at the same time refuse to buy great games like Starcraft 2 for $60, just because its for PC?
They got too much used to all the great sales on Steam, so have I. Now I think 50 euro's is already too much for a game.
It's awesome how you bitch about games being $60. Australian's are having to pay $110 for the newest releases.
