The ending of Super Metroid. I loved that game and grew up playing it (literally took me a year or so to beat it, I was 4) and when the end finally came, I cried. I was waiting to go on another adventure as Samus, kicking space pirate ass and maybe blowing up another planet, but the credits rolled instead. I cried and didn't want to start it over again.

Exact same way I felt about Super Metroid. I felt like I had lost a sense of purpose after beating it. The actual ending itself was pretty depressing too. The Metroid wasn't even present for 95% of the game, yet the creators of the game still managed to make you care for it.
When I found out Metal Gear Solid 2 was pretty much a social experiment and only a handful of people actually understood it.
Halo reach. So fucking depressing.
And pretty much every time I beat a Metroid game.
And The whole ocarina of time. It just had this depressing atmosphere about it.
Just the whole thing with saria in the end. and just letting go of the story. It just took a toll on me when i was younger.
end of the original mafia
Oh but all those people being zombified by face humpers is a perfectly okay way to go? Eli got it easy, he doesn't have to worry about being undead.
He'd doesn't have a brain to worry about :colbert:
Its like getting sucked out by a brain bug, damn.
Most war games, especially World War II games, really pull on the old heart strings.
Except modern games. I hate how Call of Duty is "Aww yeah we just killed a bunch of people we're so cool".
The ending to Black Ops was...got me a bit, but not as much earlier when [sp]Dimitri Petrenko dies. After playing the World at War campaign with him I was just... shocked[/sp]
Fallout, when being exiled after all you did for them. Still makes my blood boil.
The ending of Portal 2 and the very end of Reach.

Brothers in Arms....Leggett
He haunts in you in HH, its...surreal to say the least.

It's feels a lot better when you blast the Overseer to bits right after that.
The Beginning of Homefront [sp]You see a toddler's parents being excecuted by KPA soldiers RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM[/sp] :frown:
I have to agree with this one. Sad thing is that stuff like that happens in other countries in the world.
Grand Theft Auto IV, All four endings to the game are amazingly depressing, no matter what you do, Somebody is going to die, somebody very close to you, and you're just going to rage like you've never raged before, no matter how many playthroughs you've done of the game.
Fighting on to save this chick and as you progress you become more and more zombie like.
Also how as you slowly kill more of the Collosi the more you feel bad for killing each one, Reminds me of killing the Bigfeet in RDR Undead nightmare, but worse.
The entire story of The Boss from the MGS series. Once you play them all, and get the entire story of what The Boss went through.. One of the most depressing stories of video game history. She was definitely a true heroine.

...Don't they eat babies? I didn't feel bad for killing them... Even the last one who claimed he did not eat babies, for I know he ate babies.... Or was it berries? I think it was babies.
That bit in Fable 2 where you live your idyllic life as a child, the game was sort of meh but that one scene hit me hard.
The darkness: [sp] Watching your girl friend getting shot in the head and you are held back by the darkness and you can't help her. [/sp]
and Hl2:ep2 [sp] Eli getting murdered by the Advisors... I felt so bad for alyx. [/sp]

I don't understand the spoilers for the second, I'm pretty sure EVERYBODY has played ep2. Anyways I didn't feel anything at all when it happened, the story felt so flat to me.
DEAR ESTHER.
Oh my god. One of the most spiritual experiences I've ever had with a game/mod ever.
The way the writer uses his words and describes everything is just incredible.
When Portal 2 ended, and I realized how very, very angry I am about the fact that the world-renown bastard known as Gabe Newell refuses to say anything about Half-Life 2: Episode 3, or Half-Life 3, or ANYTHING.
But yeah, poor little Wheatley :v:
Your fail spoiler tag! Why, Now I know what happens to Garrus!! Cannot unsee, even after you fix it.
Multiple endings.
Anyone can get taken by the seeker swarms.
OH! And Banon, all my WiC fans out there. Massive heart goes up for the fuck up that saved America.
Mother 3. Pretty much the entire game.
Poor Hinawa :saddowns:
Fallout, when being exiled after all you did for them. Still makes my blood boil.
Bloody fucking agree!
It doesn't make sense AT ALL for you to be exiled for your fathers actions, especially if you grow up being the kiss ass for christ sake!
Halo: Reach was also sad. I don't know why exactly. I felt attached to my comrades. [sp]When Kat died...fucking sniper to the face not knowing anyone was there I was shocked. "Seriously? Fucking seriously!? Grow some balls and face us like men!"[/sp] Needless to say Reach did a good job making you feel a part of the team, like everyone mattered.
Here's one for yea. Everytime I play Jet Set Radio Future and Clutch comes along to steal my fucking Graffiti souls! And then what do we do? We just let him join us after chasing him through 5 levels! FUCK.
The End of Half-Life 2: Episode 2.
Eli. :saddowns:
Too bad Valve spoiled it. They said one of the major character will die. Well of course it's gonna be Eli.
Probably the ending of Doom Episode 1.
"ONCE YOU BEAT THE BIG BADASSES AND
CLEAN OUT THE MOON BASE YOU'RE SUPPOSED
TO WIN, AREN'T YOU? AREN'T YOU? WHERE'S
YOUR FAT REWARD AND TICKET HOME? WHAT
THE HELL IS THIS? IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO
END THIS WAY!
IT STINKS LIKE ROTTEN MEAT, BUT LOOKS
LIKE THE LOST DEIMOS BASE. LOOKS LIKE
YOU'RE STUCK ON THE SHORES OF HELL.
THE ONLY WAY OUT IS THROUGH.
TO CONTINUE THE DOOM EXPERIENCE, PLAY
THE SHORES OF HELL AND ITS AMAZING
SEQUEL, INFERNO!"
No WiC fans :smith:
