haha how did I miss that poster? that's awesome, always wondered what the old portal gun looked like
I found it [sp]just when you access the old aperture and you're going to enter the first test chambers (I can't remember the exact spot) if you pay attention to the walls before crossing the door you'll find it[/sp]
Ouch! :arghfist: :ninja:
I want to see DLC where you play as a test subject in the 1960s Aperture Innovators labs and you use the original Quantum Tunneling Device seen on a poster in Portal 2. It would seriously only need a replacement of the Portal gun viewmodel, a new playermodel, and some new maps, maybe with new mechanics. (Like lower jumping or similar handicap as a result of the heavier Portal Gun which could be used to create a little more challenge because after all, many were disappointed with the lack of difficulty in the game)
(This is the Quantum Tunneling Device as seen in Portal 2)

You could beat someone unconscious by just bumping into them with that thing.
You could beat someone unconscious by just bumping into them with that thing.
That doesn't change how epic it would be to play as a war hero, astronaut, or Olympian using that thing.
Plus it'd be a great excuse to get more Cave Johnson and more of an idea of the history of Aperture Science.

Maybe we'll get some 4-player chambers in old school Aperture. You play as a War Hero, Astronaut, Olympian and a Homeless Person.

Homeless people didn't get hired by Aperture until the 80s, when their budget was getting decreased significantly. I'm talking about the 60s, when Aperture was in it's Golden Age.
Maybe we could even get to fight Mantis Men!
I mean, Valve already has most of the models already made. (I don't mean Mantis Men)
Joystiq said "and a pony!" not valve.
Valve isn't adding ponies.
I bet it's some above-ground exploration. Would be mag fucking neato to portal around in old, decrepit cities. Maybe the giant rooster will make a comeback!

but I thought [sp]chell didn't get the portal gun when she was let out of aperture laboratories[/sp]
A flashback of an old test subject of Aperture Innovations.
Or, better yet, a flashback of a test subject that was involved with the Matis-Man-Hunting experiement: It goes horribly wrong and you have to fight your way to safety.

[sp]It was lost in space with Wheatley and the Space Core.[/sp]

Chambers filled with Mantis Men.

[sp]Portal 2 DLC confirmed as "The Adventures of Wheatley and the Space Core"[/sp]
Replace Chell with Rainbow Dash, Portal 2 sales triple.
Keep that stupid bullshit in the pony thread. Even better, go watch something with good animation and writing like Animaniacs.
what do you bet they'll support portal 2 like they did with l4d2; two or so extra coop-themed DLC level packs, then abandon it.
what do you bet they'll support portal 2 like they did with l4d2; two or so extra coop-themed DLC level packs, then abandon it.
But Portal 2 actually looks like it'll end up being played for a long time.
But Portal 2 actually looks like it'll end up being played for a long time.
*Both campaigns beaten within 3 days, no friends to play with because they already know the solutions to, unfortunately, fairly linear puzzles*
Yup.

that's what they said about l4d2 as well

With DLC to follow.

Portal - 3 hour campaign and some advanced levels
People are still playing and making maps for it; think of how much puzzles Valve can make, combine that with the community, bam you're wrong

I agree, I finished Portal 2 in a few days also, but the mapping for Portal 2 seems to be a lot easier and convenient than L4D2's system and the community will no doubt make lots of maps for it, as already seen in the Portal 2 Mapping thread right here in the Valve Games and Mods section.
:ninja:'d
I would love some sort of flashback DLC where you use the giant backpack portal device. And you get to actually see Cave Johnson/other scientists observing you. Or something like that.
Although, this would probably take a whole lot of work and would be better suited to it's own game.
I'm sure that they will make a mod about this before Valve makes it's own. It would be something like Portal 2: Inovational portals, or something like that.
In the future they could even do a campaign composed of lots of individual custom levels
Valve has extra incentive to make more DLC for Portal 2 (Compared to L4D2 that is) because of the Robot Enrichment store.
The more people who come back to play Portal 2, especially Portal 2 coop, is more people likely to purchase hats.
Those have been my hopes since day 1.
HOPEFULLY YES!
But probably no for Console versions
Plus why would they add ponies?
"Boys! Loads of lads... and um... a farm! a pony farm, with a bunch of ponies. And what's this, a LOVELY HANDBAG?"

I have no doubt that this will happen for PC gamers. But I don't hold as much faith for console gamers.
The community doesn't surmount to much for console gamers, because they don't exactly have access to level editors and mods like PC gamers do. As for how many puzzles Valve can make, that falls to my earlier statement specifically relating to Microsoft not getting along with Valve's DLC policies.
Just look at Team Fortress 2 for the xbox. Hatless. :colbert:
Don't give up hope for consoles yet, PS3 players will have access to custom levels too, remember?

I'm guessing they can make as much [DLC] as they want for as long as they don't pass the limit of 2 free add-ons, with the others having a price.
And I see you've practically already had that detail in your post you mentioned.

Wop, that's exciting. I didn't know this!
