Totally jizzed when I heard about this before. Any Australians feel like "squadding up"?
22mb/s :smug:
Finally a new LAN game I can play with my friends, Starcraft is good but it has been played to death.
How can you pre-load this game?
Does the steam://install trick work to preload this?
I'm confused, how the hell do I download this before it unlocks?
You don't.
Then why does Steam have to be so misleading.
Normally I would've woken up around 12:00, the time it should come out. But now I have 3 hours of anxiety to deal with.

just a couple of hours until it comes out!
I put it in run, but what's the syntax for the app? steam://install app630 or steam://install 630?
I love Valve so much. I can't wait to play this with some friends.

It is steam://install/630 .
But do not bother, it does not work (yet, currently).

Can't wait!
This looks so awesome!
VALVe can have my firstborn.
steam://install/630 doesn't start the install :(
edit
Then I reread the post, derp derp it doesn't work yet.
This. Game. Is. Gonna. Be. Awesome.
The most I've ever had out of my connection is 1.5mb/s. I normally get about 700-900kb/s.
Still have to wait 3 hours before I can download it though.
thread is in wrong section and there is already one?
Eh, having both isn't hurting anyone.
Hey everyone, go in to your steam settings and change your download location to somewhere close by to you but relatively desolate.
Steam has servers in Africa, for example, that I imagine only a small handful of people will be using. If you set it to your download locale then you won't have to spend all evening putting up with 'STEAM SERVERS ARE BUSY' and 2kb/s downloads. Of course, benefits may be mitigated if the place you choose is very far away.
You people do know you can change the server that Steam downloads content from, right? If it's going too slow, just switch to some other server.
Telstra servers are ass. The only reason I use them is because it lets me actually GET 1.5mpbs, other servers give 500kbps as an average.
Sucks, I used to know a guy running on satellite internet. He was still playing CS:S at 300 ping and frequent disconnects :patriot:
Holy fuck

Obviously a graphical glitch, move along.

So because many people will now use the African severs, i should use other servers? But by that logic i should use other other servers than other servers, right?
I need to kill two hours, what do I do? I was thinking Red Dead or Portal.
Just use a server near you. The ones in more densely populated areas are better equipped to handle the higher load...

Go here, see which server is not getting bumfucked, changed your download region to that one.

Oh wow, huge bandwith spike within the last 45 minutes, what the hell's going on?

True, but I usually get 1-3 Mb/s from the African server, and relatively similar numbers from other remote servers.
They might not be as heavy duty as the more popular ones but there's less load and a less likely chance for it to simply not download because it's being overloaded.
