• What were Valve's THREE big surprises?

I thought Valve isn't any related to EA anymore, not even on retail distribution. Don't they have enough money for that? (i heard they got over billions of bux from the games)
If steam for PS3 was one of the big three surprises my rage shall have no end.
I bet the episode 3 surprise is to never release it.
it's the anouncement that the preorder comes with a ham sandwhich, made by gabe himself.
I'm glad that half life was "confirmed" as coming out in 5 years now you fucks can talk about something else
it's the anouncement that the preorder comes with a ham sandwhich, made by gabe himself.
Delicious. I'd personally want a poison headcrab hat, or shawl. A poison headcrab shawl would be fucking awesome, but terrifying.
I find it a bit odd that, despite EA being their publisher, I don't think I've ever seen EA's logo in the intro titles to any Valve game. Hell, I don't even think it's on the retail boxes themselves. The only place I've ever even seen it shown is in some of the Left 4 Dead trailers. Especially considering that incredibly annoying trend EA has of making unskippable opening logos in all of the games they publish, because god help them if their customers don't know that the game was published by them I guess.
It is on the Retail Boxes, and I think the EA opening logo is in the console versions, but I'm not sure.
I'm glad that half life was "confirmed" as coming out in 5 years now you fucks can talk about something else
Yes. I'm a criminal for talking about EP.3. Go injest some cyanide.
Hasn't there only been 2 surprises? 1. Portal 2 2. Dota 2 3. ???
It is on the Retail Boxes, and I think the EA opening logo is in the console versions, but I'm not sure.
I can confirm that the EA logo is not present on the Portal 2 retail box but is present on all Valve games after Half Life 2. [editline]26th April 2011[/editline]
Hasn't there only been 2 surprises? 1. Portal 2 2. Dota 2 3. ???
The existence of the surprises was announced back in September of last year. Portal 2 and DOTA 2 do not count if I am not mistaken, as both were announced before September. Mannconomy probably counts though.
The surprise is that The next 2 surprises are being released together. But that would mean there is 4 surprises, which is a surprise, so there's 5 surprises. :psyduck:
It is on the Retail Boxes, and I think the EA opening logo is in the console versions, but I'm not sure.
Yeah, from what I understand EA handles publishing any Valve game as long as it wasn't bought on Steam, because on Steam Valve has the ability to more easily distribute their games themselves so they don't need EA for it.

I don't see the EA logo on my copy anywhere (back and front) and there are no mentions of EA anywhere in the fine print. However I'm 99% sure EA handled the console copies. I wonder why Valve didn't have EA publish all platforms.

I'm sure valve has enough money and background to publish their games themselves by now.
There are absolutely no EA logos on my ps3 copy. I wonder why they didn't announce the change. Was it that insignificant?
1) TF2 Mann-Conomy update (PC Gamer did confirm this)
Team Fortress 2’s lead designer Robin Walker offered to answer our questions before the update went up, to help clarify the thinking behind this – the first of three big surprises Valve have planned in the next twelve months.
2) DOTA2 (Announced a month later after the '3 surprises' off-hand comment. Plus the fact that they're helming the sequel is pretty shocking.) 3) ??? (Steam Guard? Steamworks on PS3? Episode Three at E3?)
However I'm 99% sure EA handled the console copies. I wonder why Valve didn't have EA publish all platforms.
Valve knows that having a formal publisher would keep them from having morning, afternoon, and preafternoon naps.
ep3 is already out where have you guys been
ep3 is already out where have you guys been
I guess this means we have time travel in the year 2236.
Hatless update edit:Oh look!a page king!
Team Fortress 3?
Suprise 1: Butts Suprise 2: Butts Suprise 3: Butts
No doubt they're all going to be something related to their fans paying more money in order to get something that really doesn't add to the overall experience of the game.
Then why does it matter?
Oh fucking god if DOTA2 is one of the surprises, ugh just no.
It is.
Just wrote Gabe an email about that. I hope for a helpful answer so fucking much.
It is.
Surprises are supposed to be happy, not make you groan in disgust.
And what's so disgusting about DotA 2?
And what's so disgusting about DotA 2?
RPG + Valve Doesnt sound to good imo
DotA isn't an RPG in the first place.
