though I did forget to wait for my wife to get clubbed, so I'll lose half of it, oh well, first to my house with a crowbar it is then
edit: that was fast, time to steal that money back sometime soon I guess

Cool, i've made it to #3 on the board I think, it's hard to tell, some of the higher ones stay busy being robbed alot. Make sure to get three paintings or so that you like. They don't seem to do anything, but I like them.
I may work on a bot later to bruteforce vaults, but it would still take the better part of a day. And only work on rotary plates like my own, and only if they don't have a lockout.
Ok, so i've laid plans for a large scale trap... but I can't come up with a foolproof cheap trap so I can get the cash required. Any suggestions?

Make part of it, until you run out of money, steal more, continue to work on it, rinse, repeat.
On a sad note, I walked into a house, saw a 3-bit binary lock connected to the trapdoors, guessed the combination on the first try, walked towards the safe, decided it might still be trapped, and headed back towards the exit, dogs everywhere. Well, time to build a new base. No more vaults for me.
Just stole 18000. Should be enough money to get me started. Poor guy secured the door very well, but the walls to the wiring were 1 concrete, and 4 wood thick with a dog behind them. I took 1 explosive, 4 saws, and 3 guns with me. Shot the kid at the door, shot the dog, opened the vault, and shot another dog just for the hell of it. He now has no money and has to repair and reinforce the walls. And is down 2 dogs.
The trap is an x bit lock... I guess I could make it 4 at first.

I now spend most of my time robbing instead. My defense consists solely of a hall of electric floors, each de-activates when you step on them. Anyone brave enough to simply run down the hallway can have as much of my money as they like.

I just gotta say that is fucking genius.
I bought the game but theres a problem, it streams a shit ton of data and used the last 100mb of my mobile internet in like 10mins, thats enough to play ss13 or BF3 for around 2 days and i cant find a way to report bugs, also it would be nice to have offline practice mode for base building.
I couldn't find any tutorials on Youtube, so I decided to make one of my own.

#-bit lock tutorials are the last thing this game needs..
shame on you
I agree, but it's informative if you don't know how to make them.
Wouldn't it be better to make a house which kills your robber so your house makes a profit from the loot he drops?
I was trying to demonstrate how locks work that was all.
I often see that people give up on the combination lock rooms.
So why not fool them first? Make them think it's just some easy traps, and as soon as they are far enough in, they will be trapped and they must solve the combination lock or die.

Why did I never think of that :v:

I think the issue being space combination lock walls need to be 10 thick or people will just go through the wall

I haven't tested yet, but shouldn't it all fit in one room? Lower section of room could be dedicated to the lock while the upper one could be simple traps?

I was referring to the fact you either have a secure room they can't escape even will a full set of perfect tools or a secure vault that can't be bypassed with tools but I guess you could always just spam dogs.
Hahaha, I made the common trap where you stand on a switch activating the electric things behind you and the guy broke the wired wall near him disabling the switch, but what he didn't realize this made the trapdoor open up and he fell!
This game looks excellent
Sent Jason a question about all the dog spam last week, and he got back to me today.
I just took a random sample of houses on the top 3 pages, and I don't see any that use the technique that you're describing.
I think it's kindof a beginner move, because those houses simply require that you figure out which direction to walk to avoid the dogs. After a few tries, it's pretty easy to get through.
Also, dogs are expensive ($200 each) and cheap to kill ($20 crowbar).
The real problem is someone getting rich enough and smart enough to build a 16-bit lock where you have to guess which of 16 buttons to press...
Anyway, it's also been a week since you wrote, so maybe things have changed?
Good to see he's aware of the #-bit lock issue.

Nice to see he took the time to reply as well.
I decided to make another tutorial.

Jason's post on Reddit:
Hello, folks!
I know that many of you feel that I've been letting you down in terms of communication. Please understand that, post-launch, I had 300 CD-related emails to respond to. I've been working on that for a WEEK straight, and now I only have 80 left. I have been writing back to every single person.
In terms of some kind of official channel for announcements and such, like a blog, that is coming.
Also, I've been totally swamped gearing up for GDC this past week. I'm giving two talks there (one about CD), and it's really stressful.
As far as wikis and forums and that kind of thing, I'm really hoping that other people can step in to launch and manage these things. It's really too much for me to manage.
Anyway, if you DO set one up, please email me a link, and I'll help spread the word about it (I did see the wikia wiki already---nice work!)
Keep in mind that I'm just one guy, working alone. Most studios, even small indie ones, have a full-time PR person to email people back.
By doing everything myself, I maintain full creative control and also can guarantee that everything is of the highest quality. Including the responses you get back (when you get a response from me, it's an accurate response).
His talk about CD at GDC should be interesting.
New video on source code alterations.

That seems worrying if it's that easy.

I already made a thing that just lets me view the entire map
Its not hard at all
Also the networking is worse at trusting the client than SS13 is before the big patch (that fixed granting yourself admin), you can just tell the server that you robbed the house succesfully and killed the wife and it goes "ok"
I tried to make something that LOOKS like an actual house under my 12 bit lock.

Well it was fun game while it lasted
Gotta be careful if you're using a wallhack or you'll be the next one to be permanently banned through the security camera feature.
