r_DepthofField = 0 in the console.
I think this was a dissapointment.:frown:
It's set up quite nicely for screenshots, but as soon as it's in motion it just doesn't look much better than most other configs out there.
Goddamnit why won't my crysis work at all fff
That was barely an improvement over the original crysis...
even when standing still it didn't look half as good as the screenshots, and I have a 4870.

Those were captured at the highest settings and a big resolution, of course it won't look as good as the screenshots. Oh and the 4870 is pretty much mainstream now.
What the fuck. When I started it up all the sound turned into white noise. It scared me.

Speakers plugged in correctly?

considering this is purely a visual tweak, there's no connection

I know, it's happened before, it was sort of just a story.
Also, I'm confused, does the installer work or does the .RAR work better?

If got your Crysis on the default directory of C:Program Files/Electronic Arts/Crytek/Crysis then installer away. If you got it somewhere else, RAR.
Does this work in Warhead also? My original Crysis doesn't want to load maps (or at least, it loads the first level, then when the blue-glowing alien door opens in the intro cutscene it dies on me).
I need a working download link to the installer now...and not for the one above, that didn't work for me in the first place.
The thing with Crysis is, you can play it however you like. The amount of gameplay involved is pretty much up to you. You can go in guns blazing and shoot the joint up, you can sneak in the back and pic em off, you can find somewhere in between, you can walk there, drive there, take a boat.
I said the exact same thign you did back in the day, but I replayed it and enjoyed it a lot more than the first time.
I feel like the first level was really open, and free, but after each level, you will be guided more and more all the way, which sucks.
And who the fuck added ALIENS to a game about killing korean people. And what about those bout gunners, who seem to be able to shoot you right in your face, even when hiding behind a rock up in the mountains. The bout gunners seem to have their own life, they never talk to anyone, they just float around in the water. Did I forget to mention, that they're damn hard to shoot?
And then there's this Cave thingy, with no gravity. I've never been more bored in a game before.
Let's talk about Multiplayer, have they ever got that working?
I'll NEVER finish that game again, what a load of shit.

Multiplayer is great on LAN. I only played online during the beta but I hear it's full of hackers and whatnot these days.
The aliens were fine for me (apart from those tiny little bastards), and I agree that the core levels, while interesting to see weightlessness simulated so well, were horribly linear and confusing.
Ok what the fuck, I just can't get this to work. I need a detailed guide.
Yeah i tried it, couldn't tell a difference. But I was getting a better fps so who cares.

oh, tell us more, who's the protagonist, the antagonist?

I ran highest settings at 1920x1200, the difference was extremely hard to tell.
Mainstream? that's hardly a big factor.

Also I hope I got this correctly; With the installer, I don't need to do any manual TOD editing shit, right?
Holy shit looks awesome. I would totally get this if I wouldnt need to have several fire extinguishers next to my desk to put out my computer every time I started the game.
Some of this falls right onto the upper edge of the uncanny valley. Other parts (to me, the places without any metal) throw the uncanny valley out the window and says "I'm real" to your face.
No they don't. They're computer real: the kind of real you get when your brain tricks you into thinking it's real because you've been looking at a computer screen too long. It's sharp and detailed, but it's not realistic. Not by a long shot.
Am I the only one who is sick and tired of all the hype over Crysis? It has amazing graphics. Yes obviously but the game play and story line is utter shit. Your on a island fighting Koreans, but wait! Theres aliens that pop out of the ground! Wtf. The game play is shit, nothing special. Its just like any other generic shooter. Basically your paying $60 to look at an ultra realistic world. Hey I can do the same for free by looking out the window.
Not a huge difference, but certain points of the game did look better. Specifically at night time, and when dawn breaks.
I imported the time of day into one of the maps I am working on for a mod. Basically it made it look like total shit-ass. The time of day was certainly specifically made to work only with the stock crysis maps, I can tell you that much.
It looked pretty good in Crysis though. However the night-time and such was really really flat compared to other night times I've created and seen made (this probably has to do with the fact that nothing in Crysis except the first level takes place at night), and the early morning stuff wasn't as... "good" as I thought it would be. The mid-day time though looks fantastic... only on stock Crysis maps (for me atleast).
Bah, I think I'm going to remove it.
I like the increase in framerate, but I am so sick of the blur.
I have perfect vision, and I usually scan long-distance for enemies.
This makes that impossible, because the LOD is set so low (hence the increase in FPS-- and the reason for the blur).
Look in the distance at a boat. You will not see NPCs on it, because THEY DO NOT SHOW UP. Only when you get fairly close do they pop into view.
I'm going to look for a better, preferrably more stylized TOD mode for Crysis.

r_depthoffield=0 - Turns of Depth of Field/Blur.
