I remember back when the whole DNF team got fired, one of them stated that the 2001 version didn't actually exist, it was just a bunch of shit they cobbled together for E3, and was completely unrepresentative of the actual game, which they had probably got nowhere on. Not saying it didn't look awesome, mind.

Whats there for Master cheif to do? The flood have been destroyed, the covenant have been stopped and allied with the humans. There isn't really anything else that could happen unless they introduced a new enemy, which would take another 2 sequels to finish explianing and then another sequel after that to finish.
