Jetpacks are weird. If you rocketjump and jetpack horizontally you can almost make it from Red to Blue on the space map.

I guess that's a big no on bridges.
Scratch that. My initial ideas were meant to be enclosed, but also open. But this looks like Unreal Tournament, so everything should basically be open and free.
1w_Basin is now released, add it to the svn/mod if you think my humble map meets the mod's standards.

You do know you can just convert the map over? Takes 2 seconds.
Hey guys, I have an idea. How about we implement real fall damage so we can't fall 50 feet and survive?
[editline]17th February 2011[/editline]
Here's the credits list I have now, as we really need to speed up getting this thing filled, any ideas?

(Note, I only added people who posted their information on this thread or sent me a PM)
What if you're jetpack turns on for a moment as you're about to hit the floor so it reduces the damage a lot but uses a lot of the jetpack power. That will make people be more careful when flying around.

Sounds good to me. And I have no idea why people are complaining about the jetpacks, they work fine if you use them correctly.
Also, I suggest we make a type of turret that is deployable but can only be controlled manually and fired at an upward angle, like a WW2 Anti-Aircraft turret that is destructible but is made to take down people who just jetpack over their defenses.

Scratch that. With a good jump you can make it all the way across.
Fall damage in a game with jetpacks is stupid imo

I raised this point a few pages back, actually
Scratch that. With a good jump you can make it all the way across.
Of course you can, the trick is to go really high up at the start and do short bursts to stay up so you don't run out of power. We need a good way to take down someone using a jetpack, it's almost impossible to shoot them down with a shotgun, chaingun, blaster, plasma gun, or rocket launcher. In other words good luck trying to hit one with any weapon.

id rather have complete control over my jetpack
Why is there still fall damage, and do we have time to remove it?
heavy players are punished on vertical-focused maps since it's either incredibly hard if not impossible for them to climb up to the higher parts and they're pretty much boned if they fall down since their jetpacks are already almost useless, you shouldn't punish the player with fall damage if it can't be helped

Actually, that makes a lot of sense.
Played it on sever alone.
Extremely well done , everything is nice. I was just looking for a source simple non complicated game.
I hope more players will find this mod
Working on some animations for the weapons with hands at home :D

If anyone has played "hugeass" from Halo: Custom Edition, we should make a huge map like that and have jets and a longsword n shit.
shit would be so cash

To take down a guy with a jetpack, click on him. It depletes his energy.
How bout if you shoot a guys jetpack whilst it's in use, it makes him fall and looses his shield

Train tracks from Hl2 with no supports underneath.
Ok.
Future has jetpacks
future don't need no support beams.

Double-negatives still exist in the future.
hoplite committed.

that already happens.
that already happens.
Then that must explain my mysterious loss of energy.
Can we change the map on the server please?
I agree, orbital is getting kinda old when you play it over, and over- its still a good map though, don't get me wrong.

What we need is a huge map that is well designed.
What we need is a huge map that is well designed.
Outpost should be pretty huge
once I'm done the base map I'll release the source to the SVN for anyone who would want to extend it
Like I said before, a new class similar to the Engineer in TF2 would be nice. He could have only the Blaster as a weapon but he'd also have the generator repair tool by default and the ability to build sentries, though we gotta make sure we playtest the sentries so they're not too strong.

He could repair generators.
I'm gonna get rated clocks... He changed it!
He could repair generators.
Yes, he'd basically be a class who stays in the base and tries to make sure the base is secure against enemies. Oh, and I meant to say "Generator Repair tool" not "turret repair tool."
So just think of my post as this.
